MAJOR SCROLL ALERT--TOTALLY SELFISH FANTASIZING AHEAD--JUST A GAME FOR A DIVERSION!!! SCROLL AWAY!!!
Who's playing Play With Adam next? ??? ;D My own particular Adam fantasy, honed from years of tweaking, involves his being stranded at our airport as a storm approaches. I just happen to be there and offer him a ride to a local hotel, all of which are already overbooked due to said storm. I gladly offer him my guest room and as we pull through my gates the blizzard has approached "storm of the century" status and it is clear that no one is going anywhere anytime soon. I have the menu planned, the entertainment, the overnight, the next day, the phone calls to his peeps and everyone's amazement at how everything stops in a hilly back country when there are six inches of ice on the roads. What can you do? Luckily, my deceased husband's clothes mostly fit him (sorry sweetie) so he has proper snow gear and jammies. So we eat, dance, hike in the woods, ride sleds down the hill, play with my animals, and entertain ourselves as best we can. I mean- I have two years worth of firewood, a pool, a workout room, a super sound system and lots of alcohol as well as green goodies in my secret box- who wouldn't be happy to be stranded here for a few days? He loves me- I'm his new BFF. The talks go long into each night, souls are bared, and bonding made complete. I have a follow up visit fantasy as well, but I've shared enough idiocy for one day

One of the earliest gay characters I ever saw on TV. Cool to think of Adam meeting him--actually, I think they would have met again--as far as I remember, he hosted the Glaad Awards where Adam performed.

Adam's version touches you that way, because you are a fan of his. MW a beautiful, yet depressing song, and Adam gave the perfect performance of it on AI. Believe me, I am NOT a fan of SuBo, but I did find that video kind of sad. She sounds like a child...and that is really what she is mentally. The way she approached the song seemed right for her. Two different singers, two different versions. Adam is an artist, she really is just a poor cat lady who has problems being interviewed or handling relationships with people. She and Adam couldn't be any more different. I found her version of this song childlike...and sort of pitiful, and it fit the place she is at in life- and always will be in. :( Adam is a man with an above average social and intellegence factor. Susan is below average in both of those categories. She will never deliver the types of performances that Adam (and most other artist) are able to deliver. TPTB use her story and her rather sad life to sale albums. IDK...at least she is getting to sing and do something that she enjoys doing. I don't really think she understands all the other stuff that goes along with the fame and money. I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad. LOL Interesting points. But, I was not approaching the two versions from a perspective of personality, intelligence, back story or cats. I was comparing them to determine why one left me bored and flat, and the other touched me deeply. I was listening with a musician's and singer's ear, and analyzing what each singer did with the song. I was being objective about the performances, not considering the singers' back stories. On one hand you are saying that you are approaching the song with a musician's and singer's ear, but then you state that Adam's version "touched you deeply", "touched your soul", or "pulled your heartstrings". That is coming from an emotional level, not just listening to the vocals. Susan's back story is what sells her music. People are buying her albums because they somehow relate to her story or listening to her sing makes them feel a certain way. It really is all emotional. (**Note: There is a huge difference between the word "amazing" and the word "interesting".) Adam's version of MW is amazing because of the emotions and pain he brings to the song. Susan's version is interesting due to the fact that she brings no emotion to the words. It's almost like she is even detached form the sadness that most people feel when they hear this song...which is quite sad in and of itself. NONE of Susan's songs have ever sounded interesting to me. For some weird reason, this kind of works for her. Adam poured his heart and emotions into MW and that was what took it from a great vocal performance to the next level. Susan doesn't even have the emotions to pour into songs. This "mad world" brought Adam pain and longing in his earlier years and he communicates this to his listeners when singing this song. Susan looks back on her world with sadness, but due to the hand that she was dealt, can't access that sadness to communicate to her listeners. Her version of MW is just like a child would sing it or like someone who has been left numb due to living with the pain of this world. The interpretation is implied, because Susan isn't even able to give her own interpretations to the songs she sings. IMO, she does this with every song she sings, but the emotionlessness works on some strange level for this song. From earlier: This is what I'm saying! Emotionlessness, Hopelessness, Childlike, Numbness... Sad? Creepy? IDK?
