Given that the Queen booking for the Idol finale would have almost certainly happened before the Final Two were determined, I have often wondered how the show would have handled it if Adam had been eliminated prior to the finale. I can't imagine Idol would have wanted to squander the opportunity to have Adam sing with Queen. Would the show have rescinded its offer to KISS and put Queen in that slot? I don't know what contractual obstacles might have stood in the way of doing that. It's not like they could have done a switch and had, say, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen singing with KISS as the Final Two duet. Of course, having that particular duo singing with Queen, with no Adam, wouldn't have been much more plausible. There is no way Queen would’ve agreed to perform with anyone but Adam - I am not even adding the “IMO” here, I am 1000% sure! Could it possibly be that Idol producers sometimes manipulate the voting results to keep people in they want? Best story lines. Biggest fan base? Most media attention? The one who makes the best TV? Perhaps there was no voting manipulation to keep Adam in, but the producers had that possibility in their back pocket if needed. Yes, I am that cynical.

Also, usually more than just the top two perform in the finale, so they could have still had Adam perform with Queen. Remember this past season Adam performed with um, I don’t remember his name, who was maybe 5th? They sang BR.

There would be no reason for Queen to perform with Danny and Kris. They were not rockers and did not rock on the show except for rock week and that was not good, lol. They may not book the performers that far in advance but maybe reach out to them ahead of time just in case. I remember when Caleb Johnson made the finale he said he would like to perform with Queen or Adam. He thought Adam was one of the best rockers to appear on the show. Of course he got neither Queen or Adam but he did perform with KISS. On a different note, Slash said the only reason he asked to mentor on Idol was to work with Adam. And of course he got that chance on rock week. My guess is Adam thinks if he had not performed BR on the audition that Idol may not have cast him in the "rocker" role and Queen may not have been on everyone's mind. And I agree that many were contacting Brian about Adam but it was the WLL episode that Spike sent to Roger that got everyone to really take notice and start to pay attention. Chances are, that even without the BR audition, they would have kept Adam on their radar if he had done a lot of rock stuff on Idol. There was so much buzz about him. And I don't think Idol plays around with the voting. They desperately wanted Adam to win over Kris. If they did not make it happen then, when it would have given Idol a much needed different look, I doubt they did it at all. If it had been a 3 person final the way they do it now, Adam would have won. Danny's voters, who did not want the non Christian and "other' guy to win, would have voted for Kris and Danny for the win instead of against Adam.

First of all, momtomany, I wanted to say how happy I was to hear that you and your home are safe. You've been in my prayers ever since I found out. Have a great time tonight!!!! You deserve it. Slash said the only reason he asked to mentor on Idol was to work with Adam. And of course he got that chance on rock week. What I remember is that Slash saw Adam on TV and was so blown away that he asked a friend who worked at Idol if he could come watch him. And accordingly to Slash, it was Idol who asked Slash to mentor. There was an interview on YouTube but I can't really find it but I found this article where he says they asked him www.accessonline.com/articles/welcome-to-the-jungle-slash-talks-mentoring-american-idols-final-four-70732I find it interesting all the changes in the story of how Queen discovered Adam. I always found it weird that Roger didn't even remember Adam's last name after they performed on Idol (around 7:56). www.youtube.com/watch?v=yU0qbfXE0ws

But I'm pretty sure I read that Slash agreed because of Adam. It was Adam that was of interest to him and not the show in general.

Found another quote on Adam 24/7 although original source is not found. adamlamberttv.blogspot.com/2013/01/slash-praises-adam-lambert-in-new.html“I actually did ‘American Idol’ for a second - I was a mentor. They talked me into it, they twisted my arm and I ended up doing it. It was because, at the time, Adam Lambert was on it and I thought he was a great singer. The first time I saw him, I went down there because a friend of mine works at the studio and checked him out. Once I went down there I was captive. It was an interesting experience but I would never do it again.”

My little Velvet CD from Empire has arrived! I know Adam hasn't signed the 500 batch...so that will be awhile. Now to start watching for my tshirt. IDT I've heard anybody say they have gotten their green nail polish. Excited for tonite! But concerned that Adam still doesn't feel well. Hope we get some vids...but sounds like they've changed their rules. I think before Adam did like 7 songs and for around 30 minutes. Those vids from Headonfire were fantastic. Maybe if they have to hide phones, somebody will record just the audio like we got from the Christmas special. So glad Momtomany will be there and so relieved her new house was unharmed. She is a lovely, special lady. My Empire cds arrived yesterday. Yay!!! I also got the T-Shirt and the hat and the only thing that is still missing is the nail polish. I hope it will arrive before the December shows lol. Fingers crossed for Adam to feel better as well as for those who are excited to see him tonight!! This must be a really cool gig for him.

He says something like Brian and....then blanks out and asks Shosh "the dummer?.... It might have being even after the EMAs.
