Hi everyone, this is my first post. I've been a Glambert since AI and am (im)patiently awaiting Adam's single. I'm not too tech savvy but will try to post some photos when I learn my way around. Let me try one now and see if it works. Sorry, it didn't work. Need to find instructions on how to create an avi too. When Adam's single drops and he gets busy, I will lose a lot of sleep just like you. Count me in, droopy eyes and all. I love it here. ;D

hey stardust, look at your post: Re: 10.29.11 Adam News and Info « Reply #231 Today at 12:10am »
I think you somehow embedded the whole daily thread going forward in your post, did you forget to close an html tag? or is there an extra one maybe related to tables?
ETA: nevermind, if moving to the next page breaks the pattern, I guess that's one way to fix it.

[dances around] SEE ??!!! SEE ??!!!I TOLD YA THE STUFF WAS EVIL !!!!!![does victory swagger] It does say "for those who are susceptible", so I guess it depends on potassium levels. For HSM, I think that just thinking about licorice raises her potassium levels. : Really? I thought it just raised her blood pressure. ;D That too.

Where's HSM today??? Hoppers, come and entertain us!!! Blow something up maybe. ;D Gah, trust me, I would have LIKED to be on the threads today, but I was busy earning my Mean Mommy TM status. We were supposed to go to the Pumpkin Festival today, but I said we couldn't go do to the fact is was SLEETING. Small person: But you PROMISED! Me: Sweetie, its snowing AND its raining. They won't even LET the ponies give rides in this weather. Small person: But you PROMISED! Me: Sweetie, let's walk outside for a minute. See how cold it is? Small person: [shivering violently, teeth chattering] But you PROMISED! So, instead, we had a Thomas the Tank Engine marathon (which is where I'm convinced a generation of children have gotten their training in corporate leadership: "If you are not useful, I will send you away") while Mommy scoured the grocery stores looking for a decent pumpkin. Any decent pumpkin. Because, of course, we were supposed to get pumpkins at the PUMPKIN FESTIVAL so I didn't bother buying any ahead of time. And, of course, at this point the local pumpkin stocks are pretty much gone. But that night we all went out to see the new Puss in Boots movie, and everyone had a good time. BTW - the film is actually really funny and well done. Even if you don't have kids I'd recommend it as a guilty pleasure. Didn't bother with the 3-D verson though. I personally don't think 3-D is usually worth the price (and in any case my 4-y.o. has problems keeping the glasses on which makes it even less worthwhile for us). But in any case, we now have pumpkins for carving, and order has been [temporarily!] restored.

Hee hee! Thread spamming!!Oh, and in Item #1682 of Things I Never Dreamed I Would Say As A Parent is... "No sweetie, we do NOT use our instruments to chase the cat". Since the preschool music class we attended earlier this year isn't being offered anymore (yay - budget cuts! ) I'm trying to teach my daughter how to play recorder. You gotta love an instrument that's nearly indestructible! ("No Mom, I'm not getting a violin". "No Mom, I don't have room for a piano". "Yes Mom, thank you for the offer, and I know you want that piano out of your house, I still don't have room right now for a piano".) That said, you can actually get a pretty nice tone out of the plastic recorders and we usually gave a good time with the easy songs we're playing. However, ze kid has found all sorts of OTHER uses for the recorder other than the standard ones...including the ability to terrorize the cat. : ETA: Hey cassie - figured out that if I drop my jaw really low I can get truly nice sound out of those low C and D notes. Don't know if that's standard proceedure (or good technique for the long haul), but its working for now!

One of the best things about plastic recorders is that when they get dirty, you can throw them in the dishwasher. Fun, huh? Also, regarding the low notes, you have to blow way more gently. Here is what I do with kids at school. Hold your hand in front of your mouth and blow on it. If you blow strong enough, the air will feel cool on your hand. That is how to blow for higher notes. Blow again, very gently, so that the air feels warm on your hand. That "warm air blowing" is for low notes. You barely have to exhale. Try it! I do get a similar effect when I blow on my hand and drop my jaw--just as you are doing.

They started recorder in the 4th grade. I finally made him stop playing the one from school as even I couldn't stop it from squelling like a stuck pig. The one I'd bought from the toy store years earlier worked much better. He hated the memorization parts too and just pretended to play for their end of year concert. Amazingly two years later he decided he wanted to play the clarinet in the band. Too many clarinet players though so he's playing HeWhoCannot amedet at school and self-teaching clarinet at home.
