I am the one with chronic eye problems, and I had a brief procedure today on one eye, so please forgive any errors below!
Since I first heard it, I thought that CTY was not only stunning in every way but is probably my favorite Adam solo song ever. It is in Adam’s wheelhouse and more. In fact, I have wondered if it is “The Song” to bring Adam way forward, but perhaps that is my prejudice speaking. Is there some award season advantage to bringing it out now? I tend to know about the Golden Globes and Oscar cycle but gave up the AMA’s, etc..., long ago. But I would be interested at how, if at all, adding and perhaps emphasizing CTY might fit into the awards show cycle if at all. Perhaps this is perhaps Adam giving us what we don’t know we want or need. I have decided that I don’t love Adam’s falsetto very much and understood better why after someone on the forum’s explanation. I think another reason I might feel that way about his falsetto is that SP led me back to those pure, strong falsettos of people like Any Gibb, the BeeGees, etc...or maybe they were using their head voices in some way (now, I am reluctant to say whether something is falsetto or not)...but we sure had lots of what I thought were falsetto dominated songs. That being said, I do like Superpowe, and the video is fun! I just think CTY shows Adam in all his Adam-ness, and it can be a really good thing to give the people what they want!, I would love for both songs to be big hits, but I know the days of having three Eagles or BeeGee songs playing strong have gone the way of the dodo.
And for what it’s worth, since someone asked, I have never, not once, thought that Adam was singing CTY to Javi. I don’t know if he is singing nostalgically to a past love whom he felt so strongly about and that he wishes he had another chance with or whether he is manifesting with every fiber of his being someone to come along whom he could feel this way about.
