I've pretty much given up on awards shows other than the Oscars because I do go to a lot of movies. But I don't watch the Emmys or the Grammys, etc. The Grammys are especially frustrating. There is little regard for rewarding quality. I realize that the Grammys are largely a popularity contest for the current stars. I get it. But so many really talented singers are left out. (Not just Adam.) I just can't stand it. I'm not saying that there are no talented people who win. There are. But to award six or seven Grammy nominations to one person who has only been in the public eye for one year or so doesn't feel right to me. JMO. Meanwhile, Adam sings with unparalleled talent and can't get more than one nomination in ten years. There. I've said my piece.
As to that guy's tweet to Adam about "what else can you do?" It puzzles me sometimes how hard it is for Adam to get the cred he deserves. He's a magnificent performers. He writes and creates and is loved by millions. I guess some people think that he has to play an instrument or something in order to be "legit." Well, plenty of singers just SING, and they are damn good at it. I liked Adam's reply. He shouldn't have to justify himself to doubters.

It sounded wrong to me, but was repeated. So must have been intentional. It sounds to me like the same thing he did with Believe. I donât think weâre talking about the key change where Adam goes up at the last verse. Itâs a piano chord that sounds âdifferent.â No matter, the performance was wonderful!

He shouldn't have to justify himself to doubters. It is a bit strange to give 6 or 8 nominations to artists who are not only new, but being sued for not giving credit to those who claimed they worked on the piece. Or sampled work that became big hits but not all that original. Or mumbling thru songs. At the very least, I hope that old tired argument can be retired about Adam getting his chance when he writes some good music, lol. I never bought that argument in the first place. It has always been clear to me that radio will play a song or artist excessively enough to make hits out of anything they want. It doesn't need to be great or even that good. Just those they want to elevate or keep at the top. And a major label believing in you, and willing to pull out all the stops to push, is a great help too. They are the ones who get the nominations unless you can get into categories that the favorites are not in (CCM, alt, rock, gospel, R&B etc. It is even easier when you are country). But even some of those are more competitive than others. Adam was not eligible this year. But if he submits his work to pop it will not happen for him, imo.

Maybe something will happen next year. Lots of people know how good he is. Ryan Seacrest really likes him, but Ryan has no authority over what gets played on KISS radio. That's just one example. It's just so frustrating to hear a voice like Adam's get no awards recognition but see mumbling non-singers get heaped with noms. As Adam has said, himself, "It's not about the voice." He knows how the game is played. And BTW, awards DO matter. They raise you up in the hierarchy, deserved or not. And might I add, if I was in junior high, I probably would LOVE Billie Elish. It's not about the voice.

Just noticed that Adam had liked the latest pic from Liam from Oz. I have continued to follow him since he was with Adam in Oz in 2018. He rarely posts so I had forgotten I was still following him. Guess we'll see if he and Adam meet up in January. www.instagram.com/p/B5HwQrWHt5k/

Velvet wouldnât of been eligible anyway. The window for submissions was August 31st. Velvet Side A Came out September 27th. And itâs based on critical work not mostly commercial acclaim. But that doesent always seem the case. The artists nominated, are the highest selling artists. If their was a Grammy for best live vocalist. Adam be a shoe in. But unfortunately thatâs not how it works.
