We'll know the numbers when WWFM goes 2X platinum and FYE the album goes platinum. Yup, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it! But what if it SELLS platinum but RCA doesn't actually bother to register it as such? Would we still know the sales numbers? I expect that it will be certified. I can understand why they may not have bothered with certifying it gold, but platinum is much more news-worthy and I imagine that Adam and DMG will insist!

They did the Gold Certification for the album. The Web crew at AO stated that they are no longer allowed to give the weekly figures like RCAEd was doing but they will give milestones. FYE going platinum would certainly be a milestone. The last update we had was the end of August and RCAEd had mentioned that the album was selling less than 500 a week and the last total was 824,000. So unless a sales boost comes along from either the new single or the new album or possibly a holiday sales boost at <500 a week it would take at least 352 weeks to hit platinum.

But isn't it based on albums shipped? Also, weren't other albums certified platinum when selling nowhere near 1M? Jhud comes to mind.

It is albums shipped and I am of the opinion that when album #2 comes out, people will also be looking for album #1. I see real platinum for FYE by end of next year! Too bad the bastard albums will be around to confuse them though. >:(

Just thought to check iTunes and WWFM is at #941. Don't you just love how he gets a bump even though he didn't sing?
ETA: Still climbing 12:35am #941 1:39am #930
Durbin's album #600 Daughtry Regular #41 Deluxe #55 Nickleback #37

Close to 24 hours later and WWFM is still hanging in there at #962.
Not a huge bump but lingering and from nothing more than an appearance. I'd say that's pretty good.
