The new Billboard rules that count official videos is a major change. It puts even more of a responsibility on fans to KEEP supporting a song/video over an extended period of time. It's not fair, IMO, but that's the way it is. If we want Adam to have a decent showing on the Billboard charts, we have to keep our support strong.
When Velvet Side B is released, it would be great to see it really have a strong debut. Critics liked Side A a lot. Gone are the days when you could just buy an album and your job as a fan was done. No more. Takes sustained support, like it or not.

I know this is a stupid question (or comment), but with all of the fan vids out there, sometimes it's really hard to know what's "official" or not. Plus, a lot of times, official videos get taken down.
I keep going to Adam's YT channel to watch the videos I really like, but with other stuff I don't always know. Is this new rule an indication fans should stop sharing videos, or should stop making fan videos.
I'm a bit confused, tbh.

So the live sessions will count just like the official videos? That is good to know. I play the regular videos all the time but don't really watch them. But I like many of the live sessions much better than the in the club/streets dancing with my friends videos. And I loved the SP concert video that Adam posted. So I will add this playlist to my regular rotation. I'm glad that Adam is indie as it gives him the creative freedom to not follow the trends. But I wish he could get distribution rights from a major like Universal (home to Queen so maybe they would support their frontman). He needs more exposure than his current and devoted fans can give him. Without getting on major streaming playlists and better methods of distributing his album/EP, I don't see anything really changing unless radio suddenly goes crazy with his music play. This is some of his best work.

I'm 67 and I have a lot of friends that won't stream. They'll buy or listen to one. I've ordered extra and give them away and I usually add one on if I'm ordering something from Amazon. I figure even if it's minor plus more word of mouth. I'm still running into plenty of casual fans that think he's really good but they don't realize he has new music out. They say- oh he's from American Idol and he's the lead singer for Queen. So I'll keep doing what I can and I Love the live sessions so I can step that up. This is his best work and once the full album comes out it would be nice to see some more accolades! This past year was so much fun he seems super excited about the upcoming year!🤩🥰

To get songs on the chart then fan videos are just fine if they use the official soundtrack but to get Albums on the chart then only official videos count. I think that the reason peeps are urging fans to watch the official videos now is in the hope that all views will count the first week his full album is released, not side B but side A+B. I don't know I think it's a losing proposition and doesn't benefit smaller artists. I think fans would be better off not chasing numbers and instead looking at how we can cross pollinate to other fan bases like with Runnin' which was really rocketed by a single gamer video featuring the song.

debSanne, I really give you credit for being such a great promoter of Adam's music. I confess that I am not as active at it as I could be. It's amazing how Adam can be so dominant in our lives but others still know so little about him other than Idol and QAL. I know many here do spread the word whenever they can.
The Billboard thing can be confusing. It would help to clarify what "counts." Of course, a video that says "Official Video" is definitely one that "counts." But other videos are kind of iffy. I think we have to help each other identify the ones that count so we don't waste time and effort.
I sure wish there was a way for Adam to get Grammy recognition for "Believe."

Loved John Barrowman in a show called Torchwood! He can sing and it's nice to see him supporting Adam.

Regarding official or "verified" Youtube channels, I thought this might be helpful for some... When you see a verification check mark next to a YouTube channel's name, it means that YouTube has verified that channel. It takes at least 100,000 subscribers to be eligible for channel verification. support.google.com/youtube/answer/3046484?hl=en

I don't think anyone knows or follows every artist. I was at a holiday event and some were trying to tell others who Lizzo was, lol. Adam is well known around the world even if some fans somewhere are not following or keeping up with what he is doing. There are some artists putting up huge streaming numbers that I could not tell you who they are or what they look like. But they sell a few thousand albums but then top the charts with streams alone. And Empire does not have a very good distribution system or the ability to get him on huge streaming playlists or a ton of radio play. So Adam could not get his EP noticed even on the levels as before, which was never that great but better. I keep hoping that Universal will decide they want to support the Queen frontman, with a distribution deal, as it still benefits Universal artist Queen in some way.
Since Adam has recorded "Believe" it would be eligible for Grammy consideration. If he adds it to his album as a bonus track that might make his chances even better.
