Adam Lambert, Queen Perform At MTV European Music Awards (VIDEO)www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/06/adam-lambert-queen-performance-mtv-emas-_n_1079050.html?ref=twThe crowd at Belfast's Odyssey Arena roared as Lambert, dressed head to toe in black leather, crooned a medley of the band's best-known hits, including "Show Must Go On," "We Will Rock You," and "We Are the Champions." Earlier in the evening, Queen was honored with the Global Icon Award. It was a fitting match for Lambert, whose theatrical performance style has frequently been compared to Queen's late frontman, Freddie Mercury, who died of AIDS complications in 1991. He isn't the first modern pop star to team up with Queen; Lady Gaga enlisted the band's lead guitarist Bryan May for her MTV Video Music Awards performance in September

Adam's performance with Queen has already been added to the Wikipedia entry for The Show Must Go On. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Show_Must_Go_On_(Queen_song)Live recordings-At the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards, Queen closed the awards ceremony, with Adam Lambert on vocals, performing "The Show Must Go On", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions".[11] Wow! I didn't know the story behind "The Show Must Go On" until I read the wiki page. Freddie was near death when he recorded this song and was never able to sing it live because he died 6 weeks after he was miraculously able to record it. Adam captured the emotion that was behind this song in his performance. Just stunning!

Almost 500 posts about this in the Adam thread at MJ's. 99% are gushing and postive, but as an example of how far people will reach someimes, someone said Adam is not theatrical enough to sing these songs!! LOL! hahaha...this person (marchle ) is consistently hearing challenged and is actually pretty funny (mods delete if I am overstepping):" Adam's vocals faltered in several places. He's also not very good at the rapid fire phrasing in "We Will Rock You". Karaoke-ish, once again. He didn't manage to capture the meaning and emotions behind Freddie Mercury's incredibly written lyrics, and as it is, the performance felt empty and lacked power. Love knowing that he had fun, though. ... I actually feel sorry for this poor soul... haha.. Nica.. what she said's meaningless, coz there's one die hard Queen's fan that admitted Adam's vocal ability

I agree that he used a prominent vibrato. I hear it as a stylistic thing. He did it on Soaked in GNT as well. I think it evokes drama in high order. OTT. One can't do Freddy without super drama vocally and visually. The vibrato adds a type of sophistication, class, and a classical touch to my ears. Instead of the hard rock piercing wails. Freddy enjoyed adding classical references in his compositions. Lots of sophistication, musically. He also sometimes used a lot of vibrato. What is amazing about the performance (well, what isn't?) is how powerful Adam sounded, how fierce, how commanding, and yet, there was not a smidge of strain or stress in his voice. A very classical, legitimate sounding powerhouse, that somehow totally fit with Queen's classic rock. I'm glad you didn't think there was any stress. To me it did seem like he was pushing it (maybe more in watching it than in just listening) and not something he'd want to do every day. Reminded me a bit of Time for Miracles where the producer pushed him more than he wanted. Here at least he could back off and put it where he wanted and of course for a measly three songs (ha) he could take it all the way to the end wailing as much as he wanted to. LOL! No way! No more than he pushed it several times a week for several songs a night for nine months on tour! This was NOTHING!!! I think Adam knows his voice by now!!

I really need Adam to record The Show Must Go On. i am still tearing up everytime I listen to him sing it.
I think the "he isn't theatrical enough" critique was a joke because he sure looked theatrical enough to me. I am so proud and happy for him. The one word out of all the smooshie adjectives I can think of that seem to stand out for me regarding his performance is "perfect." There is nothing I would change about his performance (except maybe adding a few more songs).
I had a terrible racing heart and fear during the night thinking about his performance, but something came over me this morning and I was so calm. I pictured him in my mind just as he was tonight and knew he would nail it. The day was very calm for me. Hooray for Adam.

How can people who write musical reviews for newspapers be so ignorant?; www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-news/8871749/MTV-EMAs-2011-live.html#disqus_thread23:03 One can only hope Brian May has been thinking too much about the hedgehogs to make clear decisions about who he should share stages with. Adam Lambert's self-indulgent warbling over Brian's badass guitar was horrendous. Adam was seriously so good, that doesn't even bother me. I just laugh and think, "yeah, right.". I don't think many listening with an open mind will share his view.
