Queen and Robbie Williams did record We Are The Champions for the movie 'A Knight's Tale' in 2001. The movie also included the original version of WWRY with serfs stomping and clamping in the stands during the jousting, plus other famous songs by the likes of David Bowie. I love that movie. Queen had not yet started working with Paul Rodgers which happened in 2005. So there is not really any contradiction between Robbie Williams statement in the interview and Brian's statement that they were not looking for anyone when they found Adam. It was two totally different time periods for Queen.That was my take as well. There was nothing to indicate that any of this was considered once Brian and Roger fell in love with Adam on Idol, lol. And the poll is rather insulting. Adam is the frontman and Brian and Roger have who they want. And it will not change with some silly vote, imo. I don't know why some in the media want Adam to keep competing with someone else (dead or alive) for the position that he holds. |

The stars truly aligned when Brian and Roger became aware of Adam. Robbie Williams is a HUGE HUGE star. No doubt about that. And his dabbling with Queen now and then was a nice combo. But his voice is not a QUEEN voice. It's a Robbie voice and people love him for it. I love hearing Robbie's praise for Adam and his voice and overall talent. You can't get much better praise than that. I agree that Brian and Roger likely never seriously considered asking Robbie to join them in a formal way. And Paul Rodgers lasted a while but they knew it didn't feel quite right.
Adam was the perfect final piece to the perfect puzzle. All the right elements were there: voice, attitude, looks, stage presence. It was a magic miracle of musical perfection.
