twitter.com/Metro_Ents/status/1240941149369577472METROAdam Lambert wants to play George Michael in biopic: ‘We don’t know much about him’Adam Lambert may be synonymous with Queen these days but he has his sights set on another musical hero, admitting he would totally be down to play George Michael in a biopic.
The 38-year-old singer has performed with Queen since 2011 and had a lowkey cameo in the Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, two years ago.
But he’s ready for his starring role in another musical biopic and believes Wham! singer George, who died in 2016 at the age of 53, deserves to have his story told on the big screen.
‘I’d like to see a George Michael biopic,’ Adam told Metro.co.uk exclusively.
‘I think that would be very interesting. That’d be cool, I just feel like, we don’t know that much about him. You know, to me, it would be great to kind of explore George’s life.’
The man’s got a point and when asked who he thinks would be perfect for stepping into the Faith hitmaker’s shoes, Adam replied with a laugh: ‘I’d give it a go. Yeah, sign me up.’
We’re rooting for you Adam!
The American Idol star has today (20 March) released Velvet, his first album in five years.
Adam describes it as his most ‘authentic’ record, but also his most ‘queer’ which allowed him to feel truly free more than ever before.
‘When I started like a decade ago, it was very much a business of gatekeepers,’ Adam explained. ‘You had to sort of play by a certain framework in order to be afforded the opportunity to be played on the radio and to sort of have business support.
‘And one of the great things now is we’re in a time where, because of streaming, you’re really having a direct line to your audience. And those certain social taboos are fading.

‘So I think we’re in a time where it’s much more accepted, it’s much more open, people understand that there’s different walks of life in music, and that there’s different fans everywhere. So I’m really thankful for that freedom.’
While recording the 13-track album, Adam had two of the best ears in music on speed dial – erm, Brian May and Roger Taylor, of course – to provide that all-important feedback and constructive criticism if needed.
The Roses singer revealed: ‘I was lucky enough to have played stuff for them along the way. And yeah, they were very supportive and I would solicit advice and they would give me suggestions and it was always nice to have their take on things.
‘There’s definitely a friendship element. There. It also feels like a family. We’ve now been working together for so long that we know each other, it’s very comfortable.’
