Got a question. I am part of a private Adam fan group. One member said that she contacted her local radio station and asked why Adam's music was not being played. The reply (later on, and in writing) was that Adam's music didn't seem to be in demand in their market. He wasn't major enough in their view to include his music in their playlist. I don't know how big a radio station this one is, but I'm wondering if streaming is as important in small radio markets as it is in the large markets. I guess it is. All the more reason to stream a lot. Velvet's position on the charts is pretty good. Reviews are very good. But he gets no radio play. I guess streaming is the current version of the old radio call-in days where the "phone requests" (along with sales) determined what was played. I think I saw your post lol! I had contacted mine quite a few times after Superpower came out. I couldn't even get an answer. It's an iheart station and I know they like him so I just don't know. I know radio play isn't as important as it once was but it's still irritating. I see Velvet making all the best of the year so far lists so I'm really hoping for a Grammy nomination. I know that's a ways off! Haha! Small world, isn't it? I tried to respond to that person as best I could with the importance of streaming, etc. It is irritating that the album gets really good reviews and does well on the charts and still gets no radio play. But I'm with you on the hope that he could get a Grammy nom. I know it's a long way off, but still, we can dream, can't we? A nom would be a great vindication from the no-radio thing.

Velvet does deserve a Grammy nod but wasn't there some flap during the last Grammys that insinuated that they were bought and paid for by the music industry?

I did hear something not sure if it's true. Let's hope they'll go out of their way to be fair lol to prove it's not true or to make up for it.💜

Adam sounds in such a good place personally and professionally and that makes me so happy. I never saw him as anyone's victim, even when I wish for more or the best for him. He seems to work his way around any setbacks, disappointments or challenges and moves forward. He is a strong and talented man. Things have not gone perfectly with the album release (it is doing pretty well tho) but he seems to be moving on and doing what he does best. Promote himself. As for US radio play, he has not had a ton of it even when he was on a major. But majors have the biggest say in who gets on the radio in the US and how much. It is not up to the artist of even the DJs. Corporate will decide if they are getting enough from the label favorites and priorities to play ball. So if he gets any radio as an indie that is a plus. But other than Superpower, we don't know if Adam will try with another single. It may change if an artist finds an avenue to blow up on streaming but that is unlikely to happen for Adam. I do think with the positive reviews of his album he could get some Grammy consideration if he avoids pop. The pop albums need to be big sellers, unless you are Kelly Clarkson who they just slide in when the have an extra spot, lol. The critics are not calling Velvet a pop album so that is a good step towards getting in a non-pop genre. They are mostly calling it funk, glam, rock and soul.

Someone told me a little bit ago they dont play anything unless you send something to radio. Adam and his people sent Superpower but nothing since so apparently won't make any difference unless they do.
I'm sure when this is over he'll get in all these appearances.

LOVED the interview from HuffPost Australia. Adam appears to be quite open and honest about where he's at right now, and I agree that his music supports all of that and resonates. Good to know that he is in the right headspace to find love again. I wish him the very best. It might actually not be a bad thing for him to "re-group" a little while social distancing.

My assumption about the Grammys is that numbers do count as well. And despite its higher reputation, I suspect that the nomination and awards process is still a political affair similar to radio play. I hope I am wrong as for me "Velvet" definitely deserves a nomination. Outstanding album. In the meantime, I will keep enjoying Adam and his music by streaming, viewing, and sharing.
