More good info... I should be taking notes. After 15 years of marriage this should be interesting. Now 3 years apart? I'm not sure how people do it... but you what you gotta do, right? Yep, the hardest part is he will miss out on so much of your child growing up. But it is doable, and you find ways to work around and through the absenses. It really is harder on your man, having to live in hotel rooms, not getting to come home, not getting home cooked meals, and all the other TLC that wives provide. Me and dh been doing this for 7 years now, on and off. You are not alone........ I was the one in my family who had to travel for my job. Can identify with the hotel, loneliness issue. Mr. Aspen said it better than I. I cooked and froze meals before I left; provided personal notes for each child every day I was gone, called every day, sometimes twice, and came home to all carpool credits used up and resentment from kids dad. This can really wreak havoc on a marriage, but my kids were fine. Business travel seems so exciting from the viewpoint of the one left at home. I can't tell you how many cities I've been in where I saw the inside of hotel, airports, and conference rooms only. Plus you get an adrenalin crash after making the BIG presentation. And we know Adam gets a far greater buzz and let-down than I did in the tiny scale I worked. I feel for all of you who are the one waiting at home. Take advantage of all of the digital communication tools available today. Good luck! On the other hand, though I once had to take cover from gunshots in Houston, I wasn't risking my life like so many in the armed forces and police and firefighters do every day. Hindsight and maturity provide insight not available when younger. |
