Not meant to rain on anyone's parade, but.. Hm. I usually refrain from listening demos before the real thing, and I should have kept that up, because that Claude Kelly demo.. I didn't like it. It didn't really go anywhere, for me it was very ho-hum. They really went with the WWFM American radio safe first. Might be a hard sell in Europe, dunno. I hope it's really worked over. Like, a-totally-new-chorus -worked over. I strongly doubt there is a major change to either the lyrics or melody. And I really do not see any reason to do it. It is built for pop radio -- repeating chorus, simple hook, something you can sing along to the first time you hear it. That is very different than the qualities that I expect from the album tracks. But what is essential to get massive airplay on pop radio in North America and Europe. I also expect that they will do a remix version -- and kick it up a notch or 7. -------- RCA seems determined to make this album really big. And I expect that they have already secured commitments from key US PDs and Sony BUs in other countries. |
