Well, since Adam didn't sing tonight, who do you think so far has sung the best (or even actually sung)?
Usually I love Kelly, and I did like her tonight, but I thought she seemed just a little out of breath at the end and - even though I thought the whole Broadway thing was interesting . . . it didn't quite come off, for me.
Beibs - I didn't get that he loved singing that mistletoe song, like "geez, how can I look cool singing this dumb thing? can I still grab my crotch in this song? oh, wtf . . . " I thought his jacket was very cool-looking.
JLo - don't think she sang, but damn can she writhe! (The car commerical thing though was SO bad.)
Chris Brown? If only he weren't who he is . . . I think he's talented. But pissed off at the world because of his own violent actions.
I was surprised by and enjoyed Katy Perry's song tonight. I loved how she looked like an inverted pink triangle and had the pink laser triangle thing behind her (just like Adam's AI green laser triangle). She looked like a cool cross between Lucille Ball and Judy Jetson.
I didn't like Niki Minaj's first song, but I love "Super Bass." What was on her butt? Speakers, right? OMG. I'm afraid when her robot/stilt guys sprayed stage fog, it might have reminded too many of the viral video of UC Davis P.O.'s pepper-spraying peaceful student protestors (that's what it reminded me of).

Katy Perry tonight was THE BEST I had ever heard her sound hands down. Loved it and I am always critical of her vocals...but she sounded great and looked weird but adorable. Also, I thought it was nervy of her to play guitar and just stand there and sing without a big production on stage. New for her, isn't it? At least on TV.

Yay, Adam looked great, his presentation was short and sweet and had meaning, since he and Ryan Tedder are friends/collaborated. I guess what's cool is this emphasized that he's just like any of the other musicians in attendance there tonight (ok, besides the better voice, and an elevated sense of style), but de-emphasizing difference while asserting individuality was cool tonight.
Fantastic black jacket. The cuffs on the pants weren't hitting the YSL boots exactly right, but maybe because of the angle? He has terrific posture. I haven't seen the rest of the show yet, so can't comment on the others.
Was Katy Perry acoustic? She sounds better vocally when it's just her and a guitar. I wish she'd co-write a song with Adam one day.

"Has it been two years already? Wow, time flies," he quipped, as he took the stage wearing a natty suit and a knowing smile. read more...

Like everyone else here, I thought Adam displayed genius by wearing the same suit he did two years ago. Of course die-hard fans got the message. I wonder if any of the media will even notice, much less comment?
He's a class act, thru and thru. So proud and happy for him. And I loved the media pleading for poses of Adam and Sauli together. The times really are changing.
As to the performances, thanks to ATop, I didn't have to watch them. I recorded the program on my DVR, noted the time that you all started flailing that he was on, forwarded to that point and caught Adam. Not really interested in anyone else.

celebrity-gossip.net/red-carpet/adam-lambert-adds-glam-2011-amas-563387Adam Lambert Adds Glam To 2011 AMAsPosted Sunday November 20, 2011 8:32 PM GMT He’s always up for a high-profile appearance, and earlier tonight (November 20) Adam Lambert was spotted at the 2011 American Music Awards. The “For Your Entertainment” singer showed up on the red carpet outside the Nokia Theatre LA Live sporting a long black jacket with a silver vest/trousers combo as he was joined by boyfriend Sauli Koskinen. Adam has a spotty history with the American Music Awards, as back in 2009 he gave a rather racy performance in which he kissed his male bass player and a female backup dancer simulated a sex act on another dancer. Lambert will be taking the stage as one of the night’s illustrious presenters. (same pictures)
