There is so much coverage of this event, there is little I can add except to congratulate Adam for figuring out how to return to the AMAs while maintaining his integrity. He arrived looking stunning, accompanied by Sauli who was also perfectly attired.

But for the perfect grace note – Adam chose to wear the silver vest and pants from his 2009 AMA performance with a metallic tie, a new long black jacket with a royal blue lining and no gloves. Sauli complemented Adam by wearing the necktie and ring that Adam wore for his famous 2009 performance.

Adam walked onto the stage, was greeted with loud applause, and then apparently stayed on the approved AMA script.

Announcer: Currently, in the studio working on his new album, “Trespassing”, and tonight he returns to the American Music Awards for the first time since 2009, it’s Adam Lambert.

Adam: Wow, has it been 2 years already? How time flies. Well, it is great to be back on the AMA stage. Thank you guys, very much. (applause and cheers) The lead singer and main songwriter of this next band once said, “You’re only as good as your worst song.” Well, since all of their songs are masterpieces, they’ve got nothing to worry about. With their latest hit from their album, “Waking Up”, please welcome OneRepublic!

Adam Lambert Adds Glam To 2011 AMAs

He’s always up for a high-profile appearance, and earlier tonight (November 20) Adam Lambert was spotted at the 2011 American Music Awards.

The “For Your Entertainment” singer showed up on the red carpet outside the Nokia Theatre LA Live sporting a long black jacket with a silver vest/trousers combo as he was joined by boyfriend Sauli Koskinen.

Adam has a spotty history with the American Music Awards, as back in 2009 he gave a rather racy performance in which he kissed his male bass player and a female backup dancer simulated a sex act on another dancer. Lambert will be taking the stage as one of the night’s illustrious presenters.
