Hi everyone, and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
Just wanted to share that last night I saw Wicked for the first time (took my sisters, mom and daughter for her 9th birthday!), and it was wonderful! But, having watched Adam's Fiyero performances a few times (or more) on Youtube, I have to say that the Fiyero actor/singer was just ok for me (surprise, surprise)!
Also, I can see why after gaining confidence and learning to accept himself, Adam was beyond bored with having to stay on script in a musical. After seeing him perform live as himself, I can't imagine how stifling it must have become for someone like him to do the same show night after night with no room for improvisation. So glad he decided to do his own thang!
I have been reading, too, some of the posts here and elsewhere about the low sales numbers for Daughtry (and other lesser-known Idol "singers") and again, I just think that trying to compare these singers to Adam is apples and oranges. Adam is becoming a megastar in a way that Daughtry has never been. Adam is a celebrity, he is unique, he is always in the media spotlight, AND he has a voice like no other--he can sing anything and is way more current than Daughtry (who sounds like he's singing the same song from his debut CD). I think people are becoming more and more aware of Adam, and if the single gets radio play and is good, then he will have really great album sales. I guess I'm just an optimist, but I think this album will be bigger than FYE--maybe not the first week, but over the long haul. (Yes, this is pure speculation and just my gut feeling, but that's what's fun about it!)
