Have just seen something again, not here, about why Adam didn’t get to play Freddie in the film....Implication that somehow he wasn’t good enough. Apart from Adam’s limited acting experience (and I dare to add here that, imho, he is not the most natural actor) - How on Earth couid anyone think that he couid physically be a convincing Freddie? Freddie was (mostly) a skinny, fine limbed, delicately proportioned man - who couid carry off things like skin tight all-in-one stretch clothing and what Adam describes as ‘itty bitty white shorts’ and nothing else, etc. If Adam dieted from here to doomsday, he would never look like Freddie (or the similarly built Rami). (And who would want him to?) Heaven forbid we got to see the broad, muscular, strong legged, full bottomed Adam in Freddie’s harlequin leotard - just wouldn’t want to see it at all. You only have to think of Adam and Rami in that scene together, outside the men’s bathroom, to be fully aware of the difference in their builds and size. (Though Adam probably wore a couple of coats to pad out a bit) Weight could be changed but not the basic build and proportions. Since Freddie’s voice was used, asking why Adam didn’t play him is the same as asking why any singer didn’t play him...

Adam has said that scene was filmed on an abandoned airport and it was freezing cold, which is why he had extra layers on.

Adam does resemble Elvis and can even do some of his moves. But their voices are entirely different. Elvis had a much deeper voice. I doubt Adam would be a good choice. And of course, Adam would never play Freddie. Different voice, body, style, everything. Rami did a fine job. Adam is Adam. To see him playing the role of some other famous singer doesn't work in my mind. I agree with Adam. I would love to see him in an original role. Create a character of his own.
Excited to hear about this private performance for Herbal Life!

Adam was never in the running to play Freddie or Elvis so sounding like them or looking like them were not issues. Rami was great but he did not sound like Freddie either as he didn't sing. I doubt that the guy who got the part of Elvis sounds like him. I saw his picture and he didn't look much like Elvis either. Even Harry Styles, who was in the running and screen tested well, does not sound or look like Elvis. Chadwick Boseman played James Brown. I enjoyed the movie but he was nothing like James in sound or looks, imo. I thought Jamie Fox was spot on for Ray tho. Diana Ross was excellent in Lady Sings The Blues but she neither looked of sounded like Billie Holiday. Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix did not look like June and and Johnny Cash but they did great and she won an Oscar for her performance. I don't think Jennifer Hudson looks or sounds exactly like Aretha Franklin. There are a lot of considerations that go into casting a lead, or any part, and the directors or producers would decide where and when they wanted to compromise. Fans may be looking for a duplicate, when deciding what would or wouldn't work, but that is not often the end result with the people making the movie. They are looking for things that the average person would not be looking for. Sometimes they just want a certain person for a role and if they think they can handle the acting they will do what it takes to make it work. Carrie Underwood I'm sure was cast in The Sound Of Music because of her name cause her acting was wooden. When she got terrible feedback and reviews she said the critics needed to find Jesus, lol. But when a part comes along that they want Adam for (and he goes for it) and they think it will work, he will get the chance.
