I‘m really surprised by the US charts. How did it happen that the new Queen +Adam Lambert album didn’t sell much more than Adam‘s Velvet? The numbers are about the same.

This kind of tweet still baffles me, but it's nice to see that people are finally waking up to the fact Adam is incredible... The cynic in me wants to say that as soon as something or someone gets the approval of the masses everyone jumps on the bandwagon. Or maybe I'm being too harsh and people were just not paying attention, but now they've had time to truly listen and see for themselves instead of sleeping on this amazing talent.... Of course, some of the those stubborn Freddie-only fans were afraid of being disloyal to him. That's natural. But when lots of Queen fans accept Adam then it finally becomes ok in the fandom to like him. It's cool. It's ok. It doesn't diminish Freddie one bit. And these late-comers are acknowledging Adam's obvious talent for what it is. A real asset to Queen and the reason for the band's rebirth. Better late than never. I never get tired of these late-to-the-party QAL fans. Sometimes is just takes a while.

Or sometimes people just happen to discover somebody that they didn't know anything about. I've done that plenty of times, only to find they've been around for quite a few years...just hadn't heard of them...or just didn't listen to that particular kind of music.
It isn't always about people changing their minds...sometimes it can just be a surprising discovery.

If people were buying from Queen Online, or whatever the site is called...is that counted toward UK sales? I never pay attention to the charts anymore...waste of time, IMO.

I don’t think, it’s counted forwards UK sales. They offered signed CDs/bundles last week only for UK citizens, most probably in order to push UK numbers. Could be though, that these sales don’t count toward any chart?

I believe it was Q3 who advised me that my initial first Velvet CD that I purchased from Empire in the US did Not Count in the US SYSTEM, NOR IN THE Canadian one. That was a bummer to learn. I assume buying from The UK would be the same. If someone has different information on this concept...it would be helpful to know. I bought LATW from the UK site as they had diff kinds of package deals, not caring about ratings...just wantng the products. Canada's independent music stores have all but folded in recent years, leaving on line purchases pretty much the way I have to go --such as Amazon Canada, Canadian itunes.

If you don't have songs on the radio in the US or huge streaming numbers, promotion is the only way to push album sales. Only fans who are following closely are doing to know you have a great album out. That is why some of us were wishing for more US promotion. Without it many will not even know. Even then many bought from the UK because they had more to offer. I tried to buy from Target but they sold out early in the pre-sale. I kept checking back and saw the had Bon Jovi and Mariah (their sales were better but not by that much) on sale thru out but not LATW. They said check back on the release date. I did, and was finally able to purchase from them, but how many are going to do that? But QAL got the results they wanted from the places they pushed so I'm more than happy for them.

I still don‘t get, how the numbers can be so low, when they played a huge, sold out tour just last year. The movie „Bohemian Rhapsody“ has been a big success in the US. I mean, there hadn’t been promo for this album in Germany either. The last tour was 2 years ago with only 3 concerts, that didn’t even sell out completely. Still, the album debuted on #5. It looks a bit like there are no Queen fans in the US, since the numbers are similar to Adam’s release of „Velvet“. Well, I‘m happy about the album itself and about the success. But the sudden lack of interest in the US I can’t understand.

But without knowing who bought the album, and where they bought the album, and which site counts for US sales, it's kind of unfair to say that there is no interest in the US. 3 million people could have bought the album, but bought it from the wrong site/retailer, or bought it at the wrong time, and it didn't count for sales. People just find a place like Itunes or Amazon, etc. that they're comfortable with, and most don't pay attention to whether it counts for the charts or not (see Stampsgal's post above).
Unless we know all the details...
