He okayed it he came in and did everything, came to see me etc. AND we're outta here! So glad it's over and once again thank you Adam for getting me through another ordeal! Tame Impala (artist that Adam said was some of his influence for Velvet) is nominated in the Alternative Rock category for the American Music Awards. TI had a #1 album in rock and a #1 album in alternative rock so there may be a good chance to win. But Billie Eilish will likely be hard to beat as she is also nominated in the alternative rock category. She has won a ton of Grammy's in pop but in other award events she has been nominated and won in alternative rock and the rock categories too. In fact she won for alternative last year at the AMA. She and her team certainly make sure that she can compete with the pop divas but also in the more male dominated areas. Good for her as it does not limit her to pop and puts her on a different playing field than the pop divas. Tame Impala lists the music as Psychedelic pop/disco/Psychedelic rock so I can understand why Adam is a fan.

Yay, Deb, on your sodium levels!! Glad Adam was "there" with you. Hubby always used to tell me, when I was still working and had a crappy day, "you need to listen to some Adam videos". That man's voice is pure tonic for the soul. You bet! Adam's voice is pure tonic for the soul - I love that. Yes, indeed! Deb, thanks for the info about losartan hctz. Now it looks like they will have to monitor your potassium levels, as losartan by itself can raise potassium levels, while the hctz diuretic part can lower potassium. So the two together balance it out. But so glad your kidney doc was able to figure it out quickly and your sodium level is on the rise. Medicine and treatments can be so complicated - I'll always remember when they told us in vet school that "medicine is not an exact science" - so very true! Now I have a beef about the queenonline store. When my first order hadn't been charged for over a month, I made a second order. Well, the first order then went through, and both orders were "dispatched". I had ordered the CD/DVD and CD/Blu-ray combos (twice!). First order arrived fine. Second order came last Friday, and it contained two cassette tapes instead of my two combos!! Sent an email to customer service requesting that they send me the right items!! We'll see where that goes. Anyone else had wrong things sent to them from the Queen store?

Thanks for the info, lurleene. You sure do your homework. I'll admit I just don't have the patience. It's really a complicated game, isn't it. It's all about strategy and placement and genre labels. Sheer talent and music quality seem to get lost in the shuffle. I take nothing away from those who win. I actually like BE just fine. Talented young singer with a good voice. The marketing from a big label helps a lot for some. Adam's experience with a major label was inconsistent at best. It's hard to pigeon-hole him. I'm sure the label peeps kept scratching their heads and wondering just what to do with him. But somehow they find ways to market other artists so it can't be impossible. Everybody acknowledges his talent. And his music gets critical praise, too. But somehow that just doesn't translate into big radio play. Velvet was a real ace-in-the hole for him. But COVID ended that. He's not alone, of course. but my heart breaks for him.

But COVID ended that. He's not alone, of course. but my heart breaks for him. I agree. But putting Adam and Velvet aside, as he is with an Indie now that does not have a lot of clot. His album was diverse and had a lot to offer other than just pop. But his label would not be able to get him on other formats and not much on top 40 either. But I think a lot of these male artists/labels are smart to give themselves other opportunities to get recognition and score some wins. Because if you are always competing with Gaga, Ariana, Taylor, Selena, Demi, Camilla, Adele, Billie, Lizzo, Pink, Clarkson, Dua, Katy, you would really limit yourself much chance to win in the pop category. That is unless you are Ed, Bruno, Weeknd, Panic, Mendes, Bieber, Harry and a few other males who score a lot of #1s in top 40. But even they get many of their wins in R&B, some rock. Many of the guys don't limit themselves to only female dominated or teen/twenty something pop. So even if I don't see rock in Billie, she is in there competing with mostly the dudes (and there is less competition than there is in pop) so good and smart move for her and her team. Why box yourself in when you and your team think you have more to offer?

Ha, I admire you guys for keeping up with all these awards. I don't really care, as I don't usually like the people that get them lol. Billie, Lizzo, John L., Mendes...don't get the appeal. Taylor is so overrated, it's not even funny.
It's all a game, the way I see it...and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with talent.

It's a popularity contest and not very much to do with talent. To think that Queen and so many other artists who are very, very talented never get even a nibble at the most coveted Grammy award makes you wonder who's voting on these things! We do know that it means a lot to the artist because when Adam was nominated he was over the moon! Just wish he had won instead of Bruno, but again popularity seems to be most important and sales of course.
