Brian and Kerry Ellis have worked together for so long. What a lovely duo!
Oliver looks like a very well-to-do Robinson Crusoe in that topical island room. I'm glad the guys all had a good time on their vacation.
Looking forward to Monday's Disney show!
I posted last on yesterday's thread about the Grammys and The Weeknd's comment. I think the Grammys are a joke, even if Adam was not a factor in my opinion. I haven't watched in years and can't see any reason to start now. After over a decade of releasing outstanding music and having a stellar voice, Adam has received one Grammy nom. No wins. One nom. I think the Weeknd is not just talking about his own lack of a nom. I think he feels like the whole process is pretty messed up. Grammy noms and wins can be career-changers to an artist. They DO matter even if some artists say they don't. Adam is not alone is being a deserving singer who never gets a Grammy nod. Frustrating.

Saw this article about the Grammy nominations. www.cbc.ca/news/entertainment/grammys-2021-weeknd-1.5815215I thought that this bit also applies to Adam's music. "Suarez says the reason for the snub could be that The Weeknd's music fits into so many different genres, including electronic, pop and R&B. The academy's concern with categories and genres, he says, can cause artists to fall through the cracks. "The simple fact is that when you create these genre categories, you're ghettoizing artists whether you intend to or not," Suarez said. "It's entirely possible that The Weeknd could have had his votes split in too many ways so that he didn't make the long list."

Adam is not alone is being a deserving singer who never gets a Grammy nod. Frustrating. I think it is also harder in the US to get a nomination and win because they have so many international acts who get a ton of radio play and exposure. Adele can walk away with 5 wins in one night and SS 3 or 4. Not saying that is a good or bad thing but it does not seem to work that way in many other countries. When Adam won the Hungarian equivalent of their Grammy for FYE, he won for best international pop-rock album. He beat out Bruno that year. He did not go up against acts from Hungry. When he was up for the same award for TOH, Bruno won that year. Also when Adam won the Canadian video award again he won in the best international artist category beating Katy and Kesha that year. All three of his China wins were also in the best international categories (one of his wins against Bieber, lol). I remember the time Rihanna cleaned up with awards in the UK but they were all international. She did not get to compete head to head with Adele. I don't know how it works in other countries but in the US if you are not getting a ton of radio or award show exposure you are not going to get to compete in the in the pop genre. Not sure what happened with the Weeknd but as far as pop the two males to get in were Bieber and Styles. But with R&B having many bites at the apple, it is surprising that he did not get in. Of course there is always room for John Legend, lol. And Beyonce has won so many Grammy's but her fans and people will throw a fit if she does not walk away with the big ones this year. I think she won 3 Grammy's the night that Adele won the biggest prizes and they were mad. It sorta made me sad as there is so much talent that is overlooked and not given a chance but people will get angry when someone only wins 3. But every year the wins mostly go to one act in the main categories. Last year it was Billie who cleaned up and I think this year it will be Beyonce. I'll pass on watching like I did last year, lol.

It's all about the numbers. As long as that's the criteria, many with talent will never see a Grammy!

Following that the article goes on to Bieber who thanked the academy for his nomination but questioned why his album was put into Pop instead of R&B. - So Adam may be trying to submit in other categories and they are pigeonholing him too.

The Grammyys is an awards show that wants high ratings. Top selling artists attract viewers. The most popular artists gets the noms and the wins. Placing the noms in various categories is a good strategy. I wish Adam could take good advantage of that strategy. The Grammys aren't always about "the best." They are about "the most popular." Sometimes the "bests" ARE the post popular, but not always. In the meantime, I will always supports Adam and his music. And he's a quality person to boot. New music will come, new projects will come, Grammy or no Grammy.
