Ok I just want to say if Adam wants to be a serious actor other than just a one note actor he couldn’t get better training than being on a stage creating a character. I think Adam knows that and it’s simply a choice when and if he wants to do that now. Also being on stage 8 times a week is not doing the same thing over and over, it’s bring new life to your character and situation every performance. It is an art. Thanks Taumbu....I couldn't agree more. I have been involved...most but not all backstage and it is really crazy making the lack of respect that stage actors get compared to either and both film actors and stage touring singers get. Frankly, Adam excepted, most touring musicians could not begin to do what Musical theatre performers can...but the MR performers can do what the musicians do. There are different skills, of course, but there is a long history of ignoring and denigrating the magnificent voices and stamina that come out of live theatre. Don't forget that Opera is really a genre of Musical theatre....if you think on it. There is a camaraderie and community in theatre that is almost totally missing in the touring bunch...we just listened to Adam conversing with Boy George about the lack of 'friendliness' among most performers.... Look at the number of friendships he has that come from theatre...versus from the last 10 years plus of single performing!! That is the difference. And for any of you that have been to much live theatre and especially if you have seen multiple performances of one production or musical....they can be very different from night to night, and from production to production....We see multiple QAL and Adam performances of the same songs and see nuances and differences that bring us back....why would one assume you do not see those same sorts of differences in a stage show....times the number of performers.... Still we have film produces choosing film actors over stage actors...and wonder why so few good stage productions really translate to a good movie...look at Les Mis...Cats...and everything in-between. The problem is so often musicality and the ability to be flexible in the role leaves the film static and lacking. For every Ann Hathaway who kicks it out of the park, you have an unsuitable Hugh Jackman and a woefully inadequate Russel Crowe...!! Go figure....the stage show is magical....not the film. And how on earth do you wreck Cats! It is sad that Musical theatre does not get the respect it deserves...but seriously, I suspect a lot of that is because most touring performers that are exhausted and bust vocal cords after 30 or 40 shows could not begin to keep up in theatre where they regularly do 32 shows per month....after month...after month... Adam's comment on his insta. I think he's including Oliver when he says we even though he doesn't use his name. I'm sure he misses him. Just my opinion.

I'm not sure how we got to "lack of respect" for musical theater, but it's hard to argue that performing on stage is not the same as performing in a theater production. I think that's all that was meant by the discussion. At least on my part. I just get the feeling Adam likes to do his own thing, likes to improvise...and you can't do that when you have an entire stage full of actors that rely on your cues.
I love the theater. I think if I could afford it, I would live on Broadway. We were in NYC about 12 years ago to see Spamalot when Clay was in it, and I saw so many plays I would loved to see. I think I could have easily stayed another 2 weeks.

It was a general discussion arising from an interview among two other celebrities. ..and their conversation was not especially complimentary of musical theatre and I was putting in my two cents. I was not dissing glamberts for preferring rock...I love it all, but stand by my comments.

Got it, Mszue, thanks for explaining that. I was hoping I hadn't inadvertently offended a musical theater lover lol.
I'm pretty sure there's room for any and all of the arts. It's kind of like the different genres of music...a genre (or two or three) for everybody.
The great thing with Adam, you just never know where you're going to see him next. As long as he gets to perform, I think he's fairly open to anything and everything. And lucky for him and for us, he's got the talent to do that.

All because the singer would put their preferred average Joe singer to shame. They would use Broadway as some kind of diss. I doubt it is any easier to just walk into Broadway and make it as it is in any the other genres.
