STUFFBehind the lens: Rosa Woods
Over the next five Saturdays Stuff will introduce you to our five Wellington visual journalists, who have spent their year documenting our lives through the Covid-19 pandemic. We asked each of them to select their best photos and to tell us a bit about each. This week, we turn the lens back on Rosa Woods. Adam Lambert performs at Sky Stadium in Wellington during The Rhapsody Tour.
In terms of chronology, this photo of Adam Lambert performing at Sky Stadium in Wellington during Queen’s Rhapsody Tour is the first one I took out. It’s more special, looking back, as it was the last massive performance in Wellington before lockdown. So in a way, it was our one last hurrah. Adam was emerging onto the stage out of the dark and into a ray of light. It was actually my first time shooting a massive concert, so I was quite nervous because I only had the first three songs to get the right shot. I was feeling very intimidated. It was packed out, there were tens of thousands of people. With photojournalism in general, you don't know what to expect on any given day and I certainly didn’t know what to expect because I hadn’t done a lot of concerts in the past. And organisers were pretty secretive to keep everything a surprise. But there was a lot of good energy on the night. I took well over a hundred photos but I was particularly pleased with this one. It has nice focus with the light shining on Adam; there’s good negative space. You don’t get distracted by anything else going on in the shot. It has a nice, centred focus. It’s clean. There’s not a lot going on, but there is. I didn’t know a lot about Adam before. I know he has crazy fans, but I didn’t have any prior obsession. He has an amazing voice, so I was definitely fangirling afterwards. I had 5 minutes to file, so I was furiously going through my pictures afterwards. I edited a couple up, sent them to my phone then sent them back to the office. Then I just stashed my camera bag away. We were given tickets to go and enjoy the rest of the show, so I went back. It was awesome, but you weren’t allowed to go back with your camera, which was a shame because there were so many moments later that happened that were a lot cooler. I think the highlight was actually the day after, when Brian May shared the photos I’d taken on his Instagram. That was pretty crazy. www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/123315728/behind-the-lens-rosa-woods

Such a good idea! You can also do this if you pay via Paypal for any online shopping. You can designate FSF as the charity, and donate $1 by checking the box each time you shop. Those $1 donations add up! twitter.com/BarTGila/status/1342504207039877125

Those $1 donations add up! Yes . . . same here! With each Amazon purchase, I can donate $1 to FSF. Not much to begin with, but it adds up! Merry Christmas to all Adamtopians. May we have many reasons to celebrate, sing, and dance in 2021!

Love that photo from the Wellington show. Sometimes photographers just get a perfect shot. This is a great one!
Good to see that there are now more ways to give to the FSF. The more, the better.
I'm sitting here thinking about 2021 and hoping that Adam will kick some major show biz butt.

Merry Christmas to all my fellow Atoppers! Quiet day here as DH and I are by ourselves...no Christmas with the family this year :(
Re Amazon Smile...does that include Kindle downloads by chance? I download a LOT of books every month...otherwise, don't really buy a lot from Amazon.
