This is beautiful ... and I'm trying to figure out why it is so familiar to me ... was it ever in a movie? Or has the melody been used for another song? It's a part of the symphony Finlandia composed by Jean Sibelius (who was a relative of mine). www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fgwr3wrenkQThat is fabulous--a relative. I had the privilege of performing Finlandia during college, and we were conducted by a protege of Sibelius. Her name was Antonia Brico (she was very old at that time). Finlandia is a very famous tone poem for orchestra. |
