That's very cool news about the album, but I'm a little confused. So does it sound like the album will be Adam, solo, singing all the songs in the musical? If so, I guess it will be a kind of "concept album," which could be very interesting. What's also interesting is that saying it's "rock 'n roll" music doesn't narrow things down, sonically, as much as one would think, unless it's all 70s-type glam rock. In any event, it's a unique approach to putting together and promoting a musical.
It will also mean that if the musical actually ends up getting staged, the cast members will have some very large shoes to fill, vocally, if Adam's versions of the songs are out there for comparison! I often have a hard time getting past the first versions of songs I hear, if I like them, even when the covers are really well done - but maybe that's just me.

Clearly, I have no idea what is happening or being envisioned....but....a new and innovative way to produce and promote a 'new' theatrical venture in these uncertain days of Covid would be something along the veins of what we also thought may be going on re the rumored Andrew LLoyd Webber production. To me, it would make sense to develop the music...and the production...with an initial CD / DVD concept combo...and see how that went over. So....the music would be Performed similar to productions such as the one I have seen for Les Mis....where the various artists that are part of the production, sing the songs in concert format. The CD and DVD become not only sellable assets, but also literally and advert/preview of the stage production which comes when it is safe to do so.
If I were an artist wanting to suss out a venture, that is how I would approach it. This is all my imagination working...no inside tracks or knowledge. But fits the template....

There is just not enough vaccine in the EU. The problem is, that the EU is (was?) relying on vaccines from different countries (like most countries). But unlike the EU, which exports their vaccine according to existing contracts with different countries, other countries like the US or UK don’t fulfill their contracts with the EU. The result is that many people in the US got a vaccine from the EU, but none of the US vaccine was exported. And the UK only sent little parts of the ordered and promised vaccine. So the EU simply doesn’t get their ordered vaccine, because of what I call broken contracts. Meanwhile the US is hoarding millions of vaccine, that they will never be able to use, while the virus mutates among non-vaccinated people around the world. In the end the vaccine might not help against the mutations. Oh, and Oliver won‘t be allowed to visit Adam in the US, because a 25 year old healthy young man might not get a vaccine before the end of the year. Here in Germany only 7,8% of the people got their first vaccination, less than 4% the second one. In almost 3 months. If we go on like this, we‘ll need 3 years, in which the virus will have mutated a thousand times and no vaccine will work any longer. Yes, I‘m angry. I can’t stand any longer to read about people in home office getting their shot, while I‘m working in direct contact with up to 70 students in school per day, without any vaccination in sight. And now I‘ll shut up and go back into hiding. 😫 |

nightowl I share your dismay. Germany did soooo well in the first wave but solidly butchered the second one. I agree with you on the brocken contracts. Although I watched a video posted on the tagesschau youtube channel, where the expert said that only 75% of available vaccines are administered. Contrary to your observation though, from what I gathered on social media, it is medical personal that gets the vaccines (know three people personally, early fourties, and the other two under thirty) and one friend of mine who is a teacher (29 years old) got a vaccine.
Promising from the video was that this pilot-test-strategy that Tübingen is trying seems to work very well. Everyone going into the city for a day of shopping, cinema and performances has to provide a negative quick-test from THAT day and then has a pass to the city. (I just wonder if they had any trouble with people when the test was positive and the person didn't want to go home) And yes i might sound harsh but I have zero understanding for the people who so desperately need do fly to Mallorca! I have empathy for whatever they are feeling that makes them so badly want to do this but It simply shocks me how many people have such a..."unstable innerlife" that it implodes the moment they are forced to be with themselves and all the distractions are gone.

I'm not worried one bit that Adam will veer away from live performances to working behind the scenes. No way! This project just shows that he has lot so talent to share and he's sharing it. The fact that he putting out an album of these co-written songs says to me that he has a major stake in the writing process and isn't just a side-liner. It's all great news! We all know that these shows can take some time to be written, cast and produced, so it may be quite a while before we see the actual show. But the strategy to put out the music on an album ahead of time is a good idea, IMO.
Finally, some news we can celebrate!
To our friends in Denmark and other countries in Europe and beyond, we all want the vaccine to get to you as soon as possible. Hoping it starts to improved soon.
