You know, it's annoying when people are nasty to or about Adam on Twitter, but normally I sort of shrug it off. Every celebrity on social media (like just about anyone who's active on social media) has to deal with trolls, and I generally advocate ignoring it rather than amplifying the negativity. But this? Irritates the fuck out of me. Maybe because, like most of you, I've been a fan since AI and remember all the crap Adam had to put up with because of his sexuality. The "he's too gay." The "he's not gay enough." The endless interviews in which there were more questions about his sexual orientation than his music. The Out magazine debacle, with the editorial bashing him for not wanting to discuss politics in his interview, and implying he was a puppet of his management and label to minimize the gay, and warning him that he'd "better get it right" for the sake of his LGBTQ+ brethren. And of course, most of all, the AMAs - which left him largely banned from an entire network, kneecapped his trajectory and, IMO, handicapped his career. And I sure don't remember industry insiders stepping up to support him. He was left pretty much on his own. If he weren't both so talented and so damn charming, he would never have made it through. It's a triumph that he did, and for all that to be conveniently forgotten now is infuriating. Do these people really believe Lil Nas X could do what he did if people like Adam had not preceded him? And Variety...what the hell? Adam deserved to be a part of that article. It's not like it was a short blurb, it was quite lengthy and (selectively) comprehensive. Adam was much nicer to both Variety and Electric Sparks than either deserved. And then there's Tammy. LOL

cleopatra, thank you so much for your post. I had told myself I needed to step away because my emotions were taking over. Then I go and turn on the tv and there is LNX on a tv commercial, lol. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for him but the hurt remains. They tried to destroy Adam and even his community did not seem to care. They were doing a lot of the bashing too. I remember how hard Adam had to fight but still never regained his footing with ease. And I look as someone like Demi and her drug use and overdose and sleeping with her dealer (according to him) But she is celebrated and never missed a beat on the radio and award shows and even sang the N/A at the SB. And with each setback she comes back with a story of her accomplishment and all is well. Not that I want her punished or anything but it is hard to figure out what Adam's crime was and why it was so big. Now he is almost 40 and the years that should have been the top years are gone. He is a success and a talent still today but these publications and some fans crying about how safe they were and other gay artists did not step up are disgusting. How could someone with so much talent like Adam's not be allowed massive play on the radio in the US? There were no complaints or questions from hardly anyone in the industry or his community? Now they want to know why he (and other gay artists) did not dance on a stripper pole and show more gay erotica? Give me a break.
