Speaking of Marc. Had anyone seen any uptempo Queen songs he's performed? Everything I have seen has been ballad-y. I don't think I'd ever classify "Somebody to Love" as a ballad. Midtempo, maybe. He performed "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" on the radio last week with just an instrumental track as accompaniment. He was good. Of course, people were calling in (classic rock station) with ZOMG!!! NO ONE can do Freddie like that – I'm in tears!! I was a tad : because there was no mention of Adam (and that was right when all the press was happening about A possibly working with Queen). But whatever, it was Marc's big segment, so yay for him. It was also before they announced the winners and the DJs already had him crowned AND decided he ought to join Queen. (Marc also did a little backhanded swiping about Idol and how he never went on the show because he was a member of a band and yada yada "cred" ... ). Well agreed SOmeone to Love isn't a ballad, maybe it was the impression he left with me when I saw him perform. I saw his audition and his Ellen performance. He really didn't have that commanding presence that I was expecting from a lead singer and thought maybe it was the song (hence ballad-y stuck in my head). LOL nothing speaks cred like being a lead singer with a cover band. On the upside should give him some visibility.

WHAT?!?! Adam Lambert ranked 5th?! Fifth in a list of American Idol contestants? Seriously? Are they completely nuts? The only LA Times 120 Top American Idols list I can find is from 2010.

glitztripperWithout even knowing what the other idols are and as up to now and what they have achieved I can almost bet that from 1 to 4 there must be Kelly, Carrie, Fantasia and Daughtry. Sounds reasonable to me. You are right. I haven't read what this ranking was based on. I assumed it was talent. Guess after the Adam explosion he can win all the rankings, even those based on $.

It could be that there isn't a misconception to clear up. I don't know much about Bruno, but I did read that Gaga writes almost every word and the melody to her songs. I think there is a difference between four people contributing to the lyrics of a song and someone who writes almost every word of a song PLUS the music to accompany those lyrics. From Gaga's producer Fernando Garibay: THR: She’s credited as a co-writer on most songs from Born This Way, what percentage of the songwriting would you say she’s responsible for? Garibay: She doesn't need anyone to write a hit song. A lot of times, it’s 100% her. She's generous enough to give the producers who worked on this album a percentage of the songwriting for the production and whatever contributions we gave in arrangement or a few lyrical suggestions here and there. I wonder what the percentage of the songwriting Adele is responsible for on 21? Does she write the music or is it just the lyrics? ??? Also, I've heard Adam say many times that he co-wrote or wrote on 4 or 5 of the songs without mentioning his friends. I don't wanna argue I just wanna say this is not always true. The opening guitar riff for Heavy metal lover was practically stolen note for note from some obscure european metal band(I made a post abt this a while back after seeing it mentioned on some metal blog lol) Idk if credit was given, and I dont really care lol but just thought I was mention that Gaga does not write every single melody. I'd be shocked if any modern artist did that. I totally believe she writes most of her lyrics--hence the crutch of using repeating syllables a lot as well as using the imagery of cigarettes and whiskey a lot, but she has to have help esp with being on tour while working on her album. No star works alone. Although if she did write the majority of BTW alone then that explains why I don't care for it lol I didn't say Gaga wrote every note of every one of her songs. Nor did I say that she worked alone. I said the reason some artists MIGHT be referred to as the primary songwriter of a song may be because they wrote most of the lyrics, plus in many cases they composed the melody to accompany their lyrics. Gaga composes the melody to most of her songs. She also wrote a large majority of the lyrics and the melodies to the songs on The Fame and The Fame Monster. Of course she has help producing her albums. Every artist does. Her producer, Garibay traveled with her while she was on tour for over a year. Garibay: We were on the road for a year and two months ...For every song, we averaged about 50 versions on the high side, because she was that much of a perfectionist. She wanted to give the best product possible to her fans. I would compare it to working on five albums at once. It was so much work, I didn’t sleep for a month, I would just take naps. And I am still wondering about Adele. I know she writes most of her lyrics. Does she compose the melodies as well? Bruno plays the piano. Does he write the music to accompany his lyrics?
