Every now and then, the Queen members like to leave us another little breadcrumb on the trail that is new music with Adam Lambert.





As reported by Contact Music, during a recent interview, Brian May recently told Guitar Player Magazine, “I always say, ‘I don’t know.’ It would have to be a very spontaneous moment.”



May was being asked on whether Queen would ever release new music with its current frontman playing tribute to Freddie Mercury, Adam Lambert. And May said, “Actually, Adam, Roger and myself have been in the studio trying things out, just because things came up.”



He continued, “But up to this point we haven’t felt that anything we’ve done has hit the button in the right way. So it’s not like we’re closed to the idea, it’s just that it hasn’t happened yet.”



May also added that the pandemic has somewhat thrown a bit of a spanner in the works when it comes to making new music. “And to be honest, life has now taken a turn in which it’s very difficult to explore an avenue like that. Things may change, but I don’t think they’re going to change very fast.”



Prior to May’s interview with Guitar Player Magazine, he actually mentioned that Queen had recorded a song with Lambert.



May and Taylor told Classic Rock that they had in fact recorded a song with Lambert, however, it wasn’t finished. Taylor said, “We did record a song which we haven’t actually finished. I can’t remember what it’s called. I think we were still discussing what we should call it.”May added, “It was a song that we’d tried to adapt that had come from a friend. It had the makings of being a great song, but we couldn’t crack it. We couldn’t get there.”



However, even though it doesn’t sound like they could get the track across the line, they’re not ready to call it a day just yet. Taylor said, “It would be nice to do some stuff. I wouldn’t rule it out. Adam has said, ‘Any time you want me to sing on something … .’ If the other two decide ‘Let’s do something,’ I’d be there.”
