I have a friend (bert from another board) that has been regularly following After Elton since the biginning - even though it's been bad for her blood pressure. They have NOT been supportive of AFL at all. When they do cover him, the pictures are the worst they can find and thier commentary and yes, many of the readers comments, are always snarky. I've discussed this with her for 2+ years. :-/ She's recently sent a letter to the editor complaining about the coverage and lack thereof. He replied all innocent, claiming that they are pro-Adam. She sent back specific details.....no response. They did recently cover something in a positive light and she was thrilled. But, it looks like they've gone back to their old ways. Given the disclaimer at the beginning of this review, I'd say she's not the only one that's complained. It's really very upsetting; but they will HAVE to join the bandwagon soon. Out came around. When the rest of world is singing his praises, they're going to look pretty petty if they keep it up. js. It's just a matter of time. IMHO. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!! ETA: I don't think we should give them hits to their site. In the last AfterElton posting (of the snippet and BTIKM single cover) there was a back and forth war in the comments between the editor and a pro-adam poster making this argument. Personally I think at this point giving AE writers and editors a hard time about it just makes them dig in their heels harder and engenders no goodwill, and it's also beating a dead horse. I've read their coverage for a year plus now and while not generally effusive, it's perfectly fine IMO and they cover most big adam related news. Let their regular posters who are also Adam fans bert in the comments if they feel like it, and it will all work out in time, they are just one of many news outlets and lgbt sites covering him, JMHO. Personally I'm really looking forward to hearing from Autostraddle. I love that site and their Adam coverage

Eh whatever. He's fully entitled not to like the song, not even all of us like it. I'm just happy that pop music bloggers are digging it. When I read so much positive reaction from non-stans, I feel very hopeful I agree that not everyone is going to like the song and even some folks on this board are disappointed. Their opinion I respect. But just like the above bolded quote - when non-stans are positive - it means more to me. Conversely, when traditional naysayers DON'T like it - it means LESS to me. That's what I was trying to say about the After Elton article. 8-)

I kind of hesitate to ask this, but it may be the only way to get an answer, "Does anyone know why Mika left?" All his posts say "guest" now, and he is not listed as a member. I wanted to ask this question since this (my) morning when I saw his last post as a "guest" and I was trying to find out why, "did I miss something?", I asked myself, and I still don't know why.

ETA: I don't think we should give them hits to their site. If your friend is Psychy I don't think she is doing Adam any favors. AfterElton has been by far THE SECOND MOST SUPPORTIVE of ALL the gay media sites. Only Autostraddle beats them. They were VERY supportive during the whole Aaron Hicklin OUT mag thing taking Adam's side and calling out Hicklin for his bullshit. Towleroad, Queerty and Gawker are the one's she should be having a cow about. Have you personally read the site? I have been reading AfterElton daily since Adam hit the scene and they are far more respectful of him than most of the other sites. They just don't fanboy over him and that's perfectly fine. I have seen many comments from Adam fans unfortunately that take offense WAY too easily. A while back someone got pissy with them because they didn't immediately mention something that happened with Adam but if that person had been paying attention they would have been able to understand that just at that time they were EXTREMELY shorthanded and many things just got left by the way side for a few days because one person was trying to keep up with 3 peoples work load. That was about the time that someone started this running theme of blasting them for supposedly not supporting Adam. I really would hate to see one of the few sites that covers him decently turned against him by a few overzealous fans. They were also one of the few sites that regularly defended his right to wait until Idol was over to officially say "I'm Gay" even though they did wish he would. They understood and laughed at anyone's idea that Adam was in any sort of "closet".

I thought I just saw his comments on yesterday's thread reminded us that Adam has more in his bag to surprise us or something like that. (And for those a bit sad about not being in love w/BTIKM, I could make a coffee table from the successful albums I love that had first singles I really didn't... well if albums were still actual objects. Anyway, Adam has so many colors to show us still!)
