Iggy Azalea Called Out for Blackfishing in New Music Video ‘I Am The Stripclub’ Ever since the white Australian-born rapper sauntered into the world of hip-hop on Louboutin heels with her breakout single “Work” in 2013, she has continually faced heat for appropriating Black culture. So, why in the music video for her catchy, clubby new track “I Am The Stripclub,” would Azalea decide to push the boundaries even further? The 31-year-old, born Amethyst Amelia Kelly, is seen in the first portion of the video with jet-black straight hair and her skin noticeably several shades darker than her normally fair complexion. To top it off, she’s surrounded by Black queer men dressed in leather as she raps about getting ratchet and twerking. www.yahoo.com/entertainment/iggy-azalea-called-blackfishing-music-233559903.htmlI don't even care for Iggy but it seems the industry is just one big mess. There were complaints about Katy Perry and Gwen Stefani stealing from the Asian culture. Some Black women were complaining that gay white men were stealing their acts. Taylor Swift got some complaints about using gay black men as props in her video. There have been some upset about Bruno Mars and George Michael (back in the day) for being rewarded as if they were black artists. There are some wondering why some of the female rap acts are stealing from the real strippers, lol. There is some backlash with cisgender men, who are not transgender or drag queens, wearing dresses and trying to steal from women. On another front, there was the crazy complaint from a drag queen that Mayor Pete should not run for president because he did not look gay or represent the gay community. Which caused his husband to remind everyone that being gay was NOT a performance. And MP wanted to represent everyone. It is all starting to be one crazy hit after another. Some of them just look silly and some of the complaints even sillier. It is entertainment. Most will have no impact on the lives of anyone. Those who truly want to make a difference, and are not just looking for a moment of attention, likely will have an impact. They are all over the place now and everyone stealing from everyone. Instead of so much outrage, support those you want to support and ignore the others.

I pretty much agree with most of what you're saying, Lurleene. I think one of the problems, at least as far as the entertainment industry, is that there are sooooo many artists and just not enough spots for everybody, not enough opportunities. Everybody fighting for their little corner of that world.
While I do agree that appropriation can be a problem sometimes, I also think it's gotten out of hand and ridiculous in some cases. It reminds me a little bit of toddlers fighting over their toys. You can't wear those clothes...MINE! You can't wear that hat...MINE! You're straight, you can't wear a dress when you're a guy!
But yes, the music industry is a mess..to put it mildly.

Yes, it seems everyone is walking a fine line these days. There also seems to be a lot of offence taken, but I also understand that. Intent and purpose matter but how do you know. People have always borrowed/stolen ideas from other people. But does that make it right? It’s a delicate subject!
This is Oscar Wilde’s full quote: “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.”
I am also a Lucifer fan. I stopped watching when it was cancelled by Fox. Would you recommend I keep watching on Netflix?
Is Adam’s hair purple from a filter or is that an old picture?

Good question on the purple hair...I can never tell what's real or not...those damn filters lol.
Re Lucifer, I'm only on the 2nd episode of Season 2, but man, Season 1 was great...I even stayed up late lol to watch the S1 finale. I actually don't even know how many seasons there are total, but I hope a few. I get so frustrated when I really like a show and there are like 2 seasons lol.

But it makes you wonder if they would have done things differently if they had known it was not the end. However, Seasons 4 and 5 were very good and interesting with many twists as well. Season 6 will be the last so I'm sad but looking forward to it.
