The more people we reach with the actual truth about the vaccine, the better. Thank you, Adam!
Funny how just about everybody got their infant and childhood vaccines, and these vaccines are widely accepted and have saved countless lives by preventing polio, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, TB and more. But the COVID vaccine has become so politicized. The disinformation is literally deadly. Get your vaccines, everybody! It's for the good of everyone.

Actually, we who were born in the 50s and had our children in the 70s/80s got vax'd and our children vax'd. The people who are resisting vaccines currently have no memory of how bad measles, chicken pox, mumps and tetanus are, and they are on the forefront of the anti-vax crusade. (Sorry if this is off-topic for Adamtopia, but Adam did post on his Insta today.) I don't think there is any controversy about flu or shingles vaccines. But the reaction to the covid vaccine is nuts. (Don't ask me how I try to give advice, as an attorney, to condo associations on requiring the covid vaccine.)
Expecting a new grandchild any moment - as in the due date was yesterday - and we were told that we had to get a dpt booster to be able to hold the new baby, which can't be vax'd for 4 months. We ran out to the local pharmacy to promptly updated that one. Now I notice that television ads, and my FB feed both advocate getting the booster for pertussis/whooping cough, as it is not a children's only disease.

The current younger demographic has no direct knowledge of that era when vaccinations were new and were universally accepted. But they still have a responsibility to pay attention to actual medical experts who tell us actual medical facts. They need to be informed about those early vaccines and how they change the world for the better. But alas, as the saying goes, "Facts are the weakest thing in an argument. " People believe what they want to believe, not necessarily what is true.

Now I notice that television ads, and my FB feed both advocate getting the booster for pertussis/whooping cough, as it is not a children's only disease. I looked on my arm a couple of days ago to see if I still had the circular small pox scar. It had been so long since I had thought about it — it is, of course, still there. A deadly disease eradicated to the point where vaccines are not needed anywhere in the world. I agree that anti-vaxxers have no memory of how bad these "childhood" diseases can be and because of herd immunity from previous generations they can be gallant about getting vaccines for them and their children. Fortunately those vaccines are out there when needed. Covid did not have a vaccine and as a result we developed the first deeply researched mRNA vaccine. I always wonder why people who are afraid of mRNA vaccines don't get the J&J vaccine which also provides much protection. This tells me it is not about the new vaccine type. Anyway, congratulations and much joy with your soon-to-be new grandbaby!

My daughter-in-law got the Johnson&Johnson vaccine on the recommendation of her ob/gyn one day before the J&J was suspended for a bit. And now, there is some question whether J&J is effective against the variants. But I'm okay, my family's all okay, we'll get boosters as needed. And we will be grateful - no conspiracy theorists here! (I used to follow prog rock, and so many on my FB feed from those days are so to the right that's frightening.
