It's true that winning an award depends on the competition. But something tell s me that the universal love of Aretha Franklin will give this film, and Jennifer, an edge in the Oscar race. The love for Freddie probably was a factor in the success (and Rami's win) with the BoRhap movie. I'm not an active fan of Jennifer, but man, that girl can SING in the same way that Aretha was born to sing. The role suits her so well. The competition has to be pretty darn good to beat her. Of course, I hope and pray that Adam gets a shot at a role that is just as perfect for him. Lord knows he has the talent. QAL has been his career coup. We all want him to continue performing solo and create new music of his own for a long time to come. JHud doesn't really concentrate on that anymore. No need to. Adam has a persona that extends beyond his music alone. He's gotten himself involved in some good projects. Very true. It will be interesting to see what happens. Gaga and her movie were all the rage and expected to sweep every award show. The critics all said as much. But then a little movie called BoRap, and another lesser high profile movie, came along and started to split the wins and pull some upsets and attention. And for best actress, Gaga started to trade wins with Glenn Close and the lady from the UK for best actress. The UK lady (sorry I don't remember her name) ended up taking the Oscar for female and of course Rami for male. I think what hurt BORap in the best picture category was the negative against the Director. When GLAAD pulled BoRap from their competition I was really scared for them. But most others did not follow. So they sure did very well all around and Rami winning the Oscar was so great. I don't think I had been that excited (or cared) about the Oscars in a long time and haven't since, lol. |
