9.14.21 Adam News and Info

It looks like that brunch had a very positive effect on those who were there. I liked Adam's "speech." He really laid it all out there, AMAs and all. There have been successful gay singers for decades, but they weren't "out" even if it was assumed they were gay. Playing that "don't tell" game made all the difference in their eras of success. Now, it's pretty expected that a new gay artist will be "out" from the get-go.

Adam's Idol era was in that pocket of time when gay artist were not yet doing that. Yes, he was out in his personal life and it was evident in photos, etc., so he couldn't very well hide his sexuality. But some gay artists did hide it, (officially, anyway) for many years. Ex. Elton John.

In the pre-Adam era, you weren't "officially" gay until you "officially" announced it. So lots of gay artists were simply given a wink and a pass. Now, it pretty much expected that a gay artist will be open right away. In fact, it's become a marketing asset.

I think that if Adam was just starting out right now, things would be a lot different for him. I think he is still paying the price for being ahead of his time in the "outing" department.

I looked at some of the outfits from this year, and I think we have different tasts, Mszue. I thought a lot of them looked just ridiculous. Not really into the "artistry" of the outfits. I did love Amanda Gorman's look...the color of her gown was amaaaazing.

LOL I did not know that!  I know my taste tends to the extreme. I like message stuff...and daring. I can see the beauty in the usual but I am sooo attracted to the whole modernist art look of this...it is more art than fashion.
