I just don't think of my artists'as QUEER. I think of them as someone who moves me. Did I know what queer menat? No, obviously not. Do you? And did you know that straight people are queer too? "Originally meant to describe something as unusual or strange. Became a deroggatory word to describe homosexuals. More recently, it has been reclaimed by non-heterosexuals as a word used to describe themselves. Queer can now be used to describe homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgendered people. In scholarly studies the word queer is also used to describe those who practice unconventional sex (e.g. bondage, etc.), therefore even heterosexuals can sometimes be defined as queer." Oh FUK don't mean to offend but I hate that word "queer". Forgive me! :-/

The DDD thread today is barely a shell of its former self and Glamberts have a major role in it being that way. The rock frontman evaluations, one of which was the technical vocalist ones, were going on for years when Adam entered the public stage (AI). These guys were a tight-knit team who had their way of looking at the world of rock music and its vocalists, they had their own lingo, their own rules and their own way of sorting it out when their were disagreements among them.
For the longest time, I went there, read what they were discussing, and quite frankly learned from it. I did not take what they said as the gospel, I did not agree with them in everything, but I appreciated their way of looking at the world and trying to organize it. They introduced me to their way of defining what is good in rock vocals and I listened to tons of music examples along the way. It was very educational and often also entertaining.
Did I always agree with them? No, I did not. Were they always asking the right questions, looking at things in the right way? Well maybe they were not. Adam with his non-technical emotional approach to both performing his songs as well as evaluating what established quality to him, clearly showed me that these guys did not have the one and only formula on how to evaluate things, but I saw them as "one school of thought". A school of thought is never the absolute end all to all wisdom, but it trains you.
But clearly one thing this forum was defenseless against, was an overly zealous fan base like ours. By the time Adam fans detected the forum, they were already ranking Adam in the top 4 rock vocalists and willing to put him in spot 2 on one of their lists.
But that was not good enough. The fan base had to prove something, not sure quite what it was and marched all over that fan site. Within a few months the most senior people fled the site. The threads were reorganized due to other outside reasons and what is left now is quite frankly, mostly worthless.
Today, when I sometimes read quotes on youtube videos or other public sites that 'DDD has evaluated and ranked Adam's vocals'....bla..bla...bla.... to be honest, I cringe, because there is nothing anymore there to justify any expert evaluation beyond what any other music fan web site in the world could do.
But that was not always the case. 3 years ago, this was a credible site and I am sad that it got destroyed. What the present DDD forum says now on the AL thread means nothing to me, its just an opinion.
Adam's performance at the EMA is in many ways an example for the limits of the method these guys are applying. His performance will stand the test of time, independent of technical perfection and analysis thereof. It will stand the test of time because it brought the energy and excitement to life that Freddie was known for. Freddie was never technically perfect, but he planted something into the soul of every listener that would live with that person forever, something that would change that person. Adam does the same, that is where the two are similar, not in technical specifics that they may or may not share. This performance was world class level, no matter what the DDD evaluation method says.
But having said that, I still miss both the banter as well as the technical savvy that those original members brought to the forum. They had the breadth of understanding to know when to step out of their box and they understood a lot about music. I miss their discussions.

adamlambertAdam Lambert I'm so excited for you all to Trespass into my world and under my skin with this album!!! My Lightness and Darkness collide on this one...2 minutes ago I can't wait to understand what Adam considers his "darkness." We all have dark sides which we just keep working on all our lives so that they don't overtake us (at least most humans do). I am really looking forward to understanding and accepting what he is willing to reveal to us. Adam radiates goodness from something inside, and its been there from the beginning of knowing him. It isn't registering with me yet that he feels this darkness about himself. I cannot wait for his album. He is so mysterious at times. I have a feeling he might just mean that he is not always the bright, sunny and funny person we see in interviews. Which, like you said, is normal for everyone. I don't think his "dark side" is really dark. I am thinking maybe more introspective? like his thoughts in OOL. I wouldn't really call that a dark side. But maybe it will just all come down to semantics.

That's a pretty broad statement. I don't think most of the fanbase ever goes there or even cares about it. Some fans, a few fans, or one fan in particular might be true. But to say "The fanbase" makes it sound like the majority of us.

And so darn respectful !!! Love him Although I believe he'd be this way no matter what, I also think that the children's theatre he was put into introduced a certain etiquette to the kids in training. Whether he's introducing his band or Queen, it's the same Ladies and Gentlemen. Love him too. Could very well be :D Whatever it is, it just adds to my admiration for him, the unfailing politeness
