Even tho the boarders were closed, Maybe they were still allowing in some entertainment related travelers? Adam has been traveling to Europe for work during the pandemic. Europe did never close it's borders like the US did, the UK never did it at all. And the countries that did close it, closed it for all countries the same and never that long. They also let family, partners and workers in. That's why Adam had been able to stay in London for 3 months each last autumn and in spring. And why he was able to spend New Year's Eve with Oliver in Denmark. Shosh wasn't able to visit her clients in the US until very recently. It's only politics that made the US close the border to the EU for close to 2 years. But not to non-Schengen countries like Turkey, which often had much higher numbers of infections. I'm already curious what's going to happen now, because the infection rates in Germany are currently higer than ever, same goes for some other countries. They should have opened the border in spring, when tests and vaccines had become widely available in the EU.

He really had many projects going on and got a lot done. And more important, glad he stayed safe.

UK ---> US now open! But wasn't Shoshanna in Vegas already for Adam's shows? If you read the tweet closely...from the airlines....the problem was not so much about getting across the US border, but in the UK case...and my issue even from Canada....was the getting out [in the case of Canada...one flight each way per day] and then the worst part...connecting to a US flight that gets you where you need to go. So while Shosh may have been able to get a flight from her original place, she likely had to spend hours waiting for a connecting flight as each country simply maximized the convenience for locals getting out...and good luck after that...
My only option getting out of Canada, would not get me a connection to Vegas in time to make it to the show...and I had no other options unless I wanted to fly in the day before....which would have meant another hotel stay $$$ and that would put me over the 72 hr limit on my Canadian covid test's validity and I would have had to hunt down and pay US prices for a Covid test to get back into Canada. The whole thing was over the top. I knew there were changes planned for November but that did not help me. And as of today, we still need a Covid test to get back into the country....and not the quick ones..

People from the EU and the UK had been banned from traveling to the US since March 2020. There was almost no way around it. Only since this summer students , who even had Visas(!), were allowed to travel back to the US. That’s also how Oliver made it there. It was one of the big exceptions. Surprise: While literally no EU citizen was allowed to fly to the US, there had still been flights. Because some had been connecting flights from other areas in the world, and yes: a few US citizens (like Adam) did travel - although much less than usual, because of strict quarantine rules. In the end it was the cargo, that hold it all upright. I know from a Queen fan, who works at Heathrow airport, that the planes from London to NY or LA had been almost empty for the past 1,5 years. That’s why there usually hadn’t been more than 1 flight per airline per day. Or less.
