Hmmmm, any ideas on why they moved Top 40 up a week. It's a crowded week. Adam Lambert RCA Better Than I Know Myself
Chiddy Bang Capitol Ray Charles
Days Difference Universal Republic Down With Me
Demi Lovato Hollywood Give Your Heart A Break
Ellie Goulding Cherry Tree/Interscope Lights
Nick Carter Kaotic/CO5 Burning Up
Sean Paul VP/Atlantic She Doesn't Mind
The Wanted IDJMG Glad You CameI think it may be because he is going to be in NYC that week and might hit some of the big stations on the east coast. Then off to EU for birthday week! Or, maybe because the 31st has Jason DeRulo and Chris Brown :-/

It's already moving up mediabase. Also, if BTIKM moves up pretty quickly, they might be able to drop a second single around the time the album comes out.

I am hoping for a 2nd single close to the album drop too, but going by Kelly, it probably won't happen. She got adds fast and they still waited a few months, past the album for the 2nd single (4 months after the first single.) Although, it does seem like some UK folks want "the other" single, which I suspect is Trespassing. Oh, also, with Kelly, they released the stronger of the 2 singles 2nd. Actually, when you get right down to it, Adam's rollout is mirroring Kelly's very closely!

Releasing the stronger (NPI) of the 2 singles second was ok in Kelly's case as she was already well established on radio. Imo MKIA is a bleh song, but it was played like crazy anyway. Adam isn't as well established. I'm not saying BTIKM is the weaker single. IDK as I haven't heard the others and I do love the song. It just seems that some folks (including a UK dj) felt it was the wrong first single.
I guess we'll see.

It slid way down on i-tunes before it climbed back up to the Top 20-30. (Granted, it didn't take a nosedive, like BTIKM did this week, but still, it wasn't fast for her first song.) Released August 31st (I think) and just went platinum last week. Plus, it never made Top 10 on the main CHR chart either. Of course, it's been at #1 for HAC forever!! Basically, I think that Dec 20th release date has messed with our heads. We are thinking, "Released on Dec. 20th, WTF is taking so long for these adds and spins to happen?!" But, in reality, because of the holidays, it all boils down to last week being the first full non-holiday week. I know we are not angsting here, just discussing. I am continuing my mantra "No angst until after Jan. 31st!"

Just read your post from yesterday & it helped a bit. My twitter feed right now is really angsty with bunch of know-it-alls who could have managed this so much better than RCA. Deja vu all over again.
But I have to admit - sometimes that angst is catching.

not knowing how these things usually work i'm really hoping this is the sales low point before the promo and spins start in earnest next week. anyone with contextual insight on how others have done?

Dang! That was nice of Brian but those numbers do not add up. Hmmm, Am I doing something wrong? Sales week (1) 12/25/11 - 38,800 (2) 1/01/12 - 17,900 (total) 56,700 (3) 1/08/12 - 6,000 Total) 66,000 Because if you round the numbers off 39K + 18K + 6K = 63K (so where did he get 66K). Maybe a math error. Will check!
