Starstruck starts solidlyWEEKEND: Remarkable format claims the slot ahead of a repeat of BBC1’s The Wheel Saturday Starstruck (ITV) 8.30pm-9.45pm 3.8m (25.5%) The seven-part singing contest opened with a huge inheritance of 8m (46%) from the closing minutes of The Masked Singer final. It was unable to maintain this crowd, holding onto around 4.5m (29%) in its opening moments before slipping steadily to close with 3.6m (25%). The show was no match for the launch of Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win which debuted in the same slot with 5m (31.7%) in January. It was also behind the 5.2m (29%) who tuned in for the opener of returner The Voice UK in the same slot last year. However, it comfortably defeated the debut ep of The Void (2.5m / 18%) which aired in an 8pm slot in July and was also ahead of the 2.8m (18%) slot average. One quarter of viewers were aged 25-44 against an 18% average, according to Barb data provided by overnights.tv. Opposite, BBC1 aired a repeat of The Wheel to 3.4m (23%). Starstruck was preceded over the 90 minutes from 7pm ITV’s The Masked Singer final which drew an average of 6.3m (37.8%), as Natalie Imbruglia was unmasked, well down on the 9m (42.6%) who tuned in for last year’s final. Across the eight-part run, the 2022 series scored 5m (30.4%), short of 2021’s 6.6m (32%) series average. |
