First I'm hearing of it, guys, but you have to remember I'm at the tail-end of the music delivery food chain (digital marketing) and therefore not keeping tabs on the album creation and recording process. That process typically finds the artists collaborating with gazillions of people, but not all those liaisons always result in material for the final product, so word of them WILL more often than not take the shape of leaks instead of official announcements. I'll definitely drop in with confirmation of this if I get it, as I do product manage Christina as well as Adam.

We did have a major meeting with the Clear Channel folks yesterday, so it would make sense that some station personnel are tweeting about certain things.

There is NO ETA or date - as I said below; 6 months was a random figure I chose to use. Adam is working on the record now. We fly him around the world and cover the costs of studio time, musicians and producers, while he works and collaborates with other artists. No one in Adam's 'organization', if you'd like to call it that, is sitting around twiddling their thumbs - we're as busy as ever. Everything in life simply has different phases, and in art, you can basically break them down into creation or promotion. Clearly, we're in the creation phase now, where 19 and RCA support and fulfills Adam's vision and talent in piecing his new album together, and provides inside looks into the process wherever possible. These looks will naturally snowball as the album comes together and the multiple elements that go into launching a successful album, instead of a dud, are built together around the MUSIC. Announcing a precise street date will happen in due time. But that's why throwing out firm dates now is a pointless exercise. Of all the things we do, the creative process is the last one you want to put a timeframe around. We won't rush or slow down Adam as he follows his muse - just back him up with the resources to do so, whether all his collaborations bear fruit or not. The rest of the release planning is built around the creative process. Take a load off kids...no matter what, you won't hear new music for months still, hence my point about not jumping off a cliff. Hang in there!

You can correct me if I'm wrong Ed, but I kind of think that the 6 month estimated date has a lot to do with Cook's album/ promotion having to run it's 6 month course. RCA doesn't want the Idol artist's albums competing against each other.

LinR09: Nope. Adam and Daughtry will likely have new albums released weeks apart. Earlier this year, I oversaw digital planning for new CDs by Avril, The Strokes, Foo Fighters, plus the GNL DVD within 5 weeks of each other. We do map our schedules very carefully, but we can multi-task, too. The 6-month guesstimate is just my personal stab at a potential release based on my years of experience - nothing more. If enough things go differently in this massively complex creative/recording process, I could be wrong.

Adam too was throwing out a date based on what made sense to him in the moment, but do you think he'll pass on trying one more take (or a dozen) on a particular song because he mentioned a fall release in some long forgotten interview? In other words, don't bet the farm on anything right now or you'll likely get burned. Oh, but you can expect a single to be unveiled roughly 2 months ahead of release (whenever that is). That's standard practice for getting a single as high as possible into the charts ahead of street date, to heighten awareness.

And can we please be grownups and stop asking whether RCA supports Adam and vice versa? It's gotten SO old, guys, seriously. This is a business, and I'm sure Adam would resent it as much as I do, if you reduce the dead-serious approach with which we pursue his success to some kind of child's game for the gossip mill. That kind of baseless fighting talk works great in soap operas and schoolyards, but please believe me when I insist that we're all professionals working together here. There's strength in numbers where the entertainment industry is concerned and that's one of the reasons why Adam took a chance on a mass-marketing platform like AI to catapult years of hard work and his god-given talent to the next level of exposure. I sometimes think you forget that it took the biggest TV show in America to pipe Adam into your living rooms, as it did mine. How many of you were at the clubs when he was paying his dues? Just because you immediately saw the light, doesn't mean you would have found him without that platform.

Listen, like it or not, some people will simply choose NOT to buy Adam's music...it's called free will, and no one here has magical powers to change that. Once you burst out of the euphoric bubble of obsession surrounding any given artist site, there's an entire universe of consumers who simply aren't as taken with the same thing as you are. I'm sure you all know people in your daily lives that you simply cannot convert to Adam's cause, and that's just the way the world turns. But with each new album comes new amazing music that may do just that. Keep in mind, 95% of the music-buying population DOES NOT hang on every note released by a single artist or two, but sample the songs they like best by any artist that crosses their path. Our goal is to keep capturing as many of those more casual fans as possible. Torturing yourselves over such realities is just a waste of glam-energy, dig?

But we, on the other hand, are paid to torture ourselves in the advancement of this goal - LOL - so I promise we'll do our best, always!
