Tampa Review!
twitter.com/SRQPost/status/1524041581745029126 The Suncoast PostAdam Lambert Slays at Tampa’s Seminole Hard RockIt has been 13 years since Adam Lambert’s killer vocals should have won American Idol Season 8, but Lambert is probably lucky that it didn’t happen that way! Since 2009, he has had numerous hits, sings for Queen all over the world, and did a Kennedy Center Honors performance as a tribute to Cher of her song “Believe,” which had her up on her feet and millions of YouTube views!
Adam came to Florida on his “We Say Gay” tour to play some dates that included festivals in Key West and Sunfest in West Palm Beach. Tampa was lucky to get him at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino’s Event Center! The seating capacity is 1,500, which makes for a great, intimate show. This show had a general admission standing pit, the Glamberts were out in full force, and cell phones became part of the show. Adam arrived on stage performing his first hit after Idol and a perfect opener, “For Your Entertainment.” Dressed in a long, black vest with a glitter shirt and black platform shoes, he strutted and danced to the high-energy tune.
Adam released his latest album, “Velvet” on March 20, 2020, right at the shutdown of the pandemic, and wasn’t able to tour to support this album in the U.S., but the album received great reviews, and he performed “Superpower” for the Tampa crowd who loved it. He kicked it up a notch when he gave us a cover of Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” and a fun version of Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.” The setlist was a mix of covers and Adam’s solo music, so there was something for everyone. The audience was a mixed demographic of Glamberts, the LGBTQ crowd, over 60’s, couples, and women! Adam’s vocals were in top form, hitting all those big notes, but he is much more in command of where his voice goes now than back in his Idol days. “Roses” from Velvet sounded great. Adam talked to the audience about the “We Say Gay” tour, touching on his concerns for the LGBTQ community in the current political climate but was neither angry nor preachy.

I love the twitter exchange between Mia Farrow and Nancy Sinatra Just catching up - so sorry if it’s already been mentioned…. In case anyone didn’t know…(hope my memory isn’t playing tricks…) Adam used to live in the flat next door to Nancy Sinatra and she became a great fan. She said he always got up late but when he did, she would make a cup of coffee and listen to him singing through the wall! They would bump into each other in the lift… Nice that she’s still a fan.
