Every year I pop in and out of American Idol hoping to see somebody really interesting. They do have talented kids come on that show… There’s no doubt about that. But by the time you get to the end of the show they have winnowed out all of the really interesting and unique talents in favor of two or three very middle of the road kids. and then the unbelievable grade inflation starts happening. Suddenly 17 and 18-year-old kids are iconic!! Seriously they’ve got talent but you’re not helping anybody telling them they’re amazing and wonderful and can’t get any better this is the end of the road…thay cant be any better… I can honestly say that they haven’t chosen a really exceptional singer for that show for such a long time it is a wonder the show is still on the air. And it’s not just American Idol… America’s Got Talent… Canada’s got talent… The Voice… They’re all the same. They get very little constructive criticism and they get over the top praise. WHY? I can’t even watch it anymore… I agree. I think the biggest problem is that no one really interesting or different can survive the voting audience. I am still amazed that Adam made it to top two. I guess it was before they really jumped off the cliff, lol. Whenever they have a black contestant singing country music, they can't wait to say he/she does not belong. I remember some years back, a very pretty bi-racial teen was competing as a country artist. She was a good singer and better than many who outlasted her. She played the piano and guitar and she had good stage presence when she performed without an instrument. But the biggest complaints about her was why is she singing country? Well, she was born and raised in Tennessee and her white grandfather taught her to love country music. But they could not wait to vote her off and were downright gleeful. So in a way, I'm sorta glad it is the non-winners who seem to find so much success. It drives them absolutely nuts that most of their chosen winners failed to become the stars. Along with winners Carrie and Kelly, they use Adam (2nd), Gabby (3rd) and Jennifer (7th) while promoting the Idol stars. HA!

Looks like I can stream Idol - had to look it up to see what channel lol. It's been a few years since I was consistent. Well I've been looking for something light and airy that I can do other things while watching. I finished the Cook of Castamar which wasn't very light, plus it was in Spanish which while recognizing a few words meant watching for the subtitles.
