Love your post, lurleene. Lots of good points. Sometimes I glad that Adam was on Idol at the old end of the age limit. Sure, he missed out being a very young contestant who could get that teen/tween fanbase, even though he has always had some younger fans. But the upside was that he was a bit more mature and had been comfortable with his sexuality for years. Sure, he's made some blunders, but overall, he has used his charm and naturally warm and friendly personality to full advantage. It's been a real asset for him along the way. People who know and work with him just plain like him.
LNX is young and cocky and arrogant and obnoxious. He's lucky to have gotten some awards, etc. We'll see how his career pans out. He seems clueless about those before him who paved the way for him. Adam, on the other hand, has always acknowledged those who have come before and who took risks and paid their dues. Adam took his share of risks, too, and paid the price.
I love that Adam has a broader view of his career. He is wise to the realities of the positives and pitfalls of the "album/tour, album/tour" pattern of being a singing star. I think he'll continue to make great music and sell it to those who love it. But he's also branching out to other opportunities. I hope he has a long and productive career. LNX may sustain for a while, but we'll see how he does over the long haul. He seems to have a lot of growing up to do.
