ROCK AND BLOG Chronicle of the QUEEN + Adam Lambert concert in Madrid (07/06/2022) Magic once again filled the Wizink Center in Madrid with the music of QUEEN who once again came out as true champions In a state of tremendous joy I begin to write this chronicle before going to bed. It's been a glorious night and I can't sleep without telling all this.
Because after three years with the tickets in our possession, seeing how COVID delayed enjoying a dream once again has been a long time, finally the time has come and it has been worth it. QUEEN landed in Madrid this 2022 with Adam Lambert on vocals and left all the attendees with a wonderful taste in our mouths.

With the images of a Brian May who has suffered a lot in recent months in mind and the fear of disappointment hanging over some heads, Queen arrived to cover mouths and as we like to say, kick some ass as the band offered us a total show. A show in which lasers, pyrotechnics, confetti cannons and huge screens offered the perfect package for the music of these giants who years ago decided to go ahead without forgetting anyone.
Upon entering the Wizink Center, a decoration that seemed carved in wood that surrounded the entire stage attracted attention. A little later I would discover that it was a huge curved screen that would float above the band throughout the concert creating the effect that the entire stage was under a crown.
The wait became endless in a venue that was almost full and without any kind of animation to warm up the wait. But who needs animation when what's coming is Queen?
Finally, the stage opened with an immense digital curtain to the sound of «Innuendo» and immediately the protagonists made an appearance to download «Now I'm Here» which at the same time served to make the first sets of images.
The white hair of Roger Taylor and Brian May shined under the spotlights while an Adam Lambert more integrated than ever in the band showed off with extravagant clothes and a glamor to match his magnificent voice.
The setlist was a collection of anthems that could have been even longer, with killer tunes like “Hammer to Fall”, “We will Rock you”, “I Want It All” and “Tie Your Mother Down”. There was also room and a lot for those songs that cause the public to dance and prevent one from erasing my smile with “I Want to Break Free”, “Fat Bottomed Girls”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” or “Don´t Stop Me Now”.
As usual, May and Taylor took intermittent solo turns on vocals and even Mercury himself also made several video appearances, accompanying May on a gorgeous version of “Love of My Life” or haranguing the crowd.
And that was not the only "sentimental" moment since the discography of these monsters is full of great songs made from and for the heart "These Are the Days of Our Lives" with Roger Taylor on vocals, "Who Wants to Live Forever ” or “The Show Must Go On” served to make our hair stand on end and bring out a few more tears.
Couldn't miss Queen's most popular song "Bohemian Rhapsody". That complex theme that was born trying to simulate certain operatic elements by mixing three half-composed songs and that by itself has come to be considered by many the best song in history. Playing this masterpiece live in its entirety is almost impossible, so instead of trying to recreate it, video images were played in the background (as in previous tours) impregnating stage and venue with tremendous nostalgia.
It is difficult to choose a special moment of the night, but if you are one of those who have not yet been to the concert and have it planned, do not even think about going to the bathroom during “A Kind of Magic”. Literally the lighting, effects and projections were magical. And I won't say more to avoid spoilers.
The interpretation of “Under Pressure” was sublime too, with a stratospheric Lambert.
But above all things I will never forget the torrent of feelings that came over me with the aforementioned “Love of My Life” during which he broke down crying like a child and not even the entire pavilion singing along with May “39” managed to get me out of that condition.
Seeing Queen + Adam Lambert is already a lot, but I have to say that the classic British Rock concert has been maximized with a lot of technical elements that take the show to another level. And what a sound! Brian May's guitar, Taylor's drums and the voices of the three sounded perfectly throughout the night.
Thus I close this week of chronicles that have taken me on a journey through three very different Rock concepts such as Alice Cooper with his Shock Rock, KISS with his particular vision of Glam Rock and finally Queen that we could fit in as British rock, but that Damn, let's leave the labels, in a week I've enjoyed Alice Cooper, KISS and Queen, take the dance away from me!
