Here is a curiosity I somehow missed back in 2019. Brian was at the Starmus V Festival in Zurich. He used this same orchestra to record the Innuendo instrumental version for the upcoming tour. And he performed this version of We Are The Champions with (as the YouTube commenters joked) the only person in the world who does not know the lyrics. However, Vittorio Grigolo is an Italian tenor, so this gives us a nice opportunity to hear how a classically trained singer struggles with a rock song. youtu.be/zf15P6ILPZkThank God for Adam Lambert! (which is also a direct quote from Rob Halford of Judas Priest) re …classically trained singers making Queen songs look very difficult…i love Alfie Boe and his wonderful voice and I have used him to illustrate this point here before - but it’s his own fault for insisting on singing Don’t Stop Me Now so often and never getting any better. New piece of film to me but he can’t seem to keep the rhythm, is out of breath, struggles with range of notes and looks like he’s about to have a stroke at any minute. How exhausting for singer and audience alike if he fronted Queen for two hours! Adam makes it look too easy, as ever.

Wow! Thanks for the AlfieBoe vid! Makes me realize even more how masterfully Adam sings Queen's songs. They are NOT easy. This guy does seem to struggle a bit. One thing I always say about Adam's voice is that it has a rich, deep resonance. He never sounds "tinny" or thin. Many opera singers sound tinny to me, esp. the tenors. I think that Adam singing a full concert of Queen songs at full throttle can often be as demanding as an opera singer's performance, maybe even more demanding.
