i love Alfie Boe and his wonderful voice and I have used him to illustrate this point here before - but it’s his own fault for insisting on singing Don’t Stop Me Now so often and never getting any better.  New piece of film to me but he can’t seem to keep the rhythm, is out of breath, struggles with range of notes and looks like he’s about to have a stroke at any minute. How exhausting for singer and audience alike if he fronted Queen for two hours! Adam makes it look too easy, as ever. Alfie singing Bring Him Home is breathtakingly beautiful. None better. But, his choice to sing more pop/rock stuff is a big fail for me. i couldn't make it thru the video, it was so painful. Thank you for this example of how difficult it is to transition between musical genres. Adam may not sound like a traditional opera singer with ND, but it is a very credible rendition. A great example of Adam's ability to cross genres convincingly. |
