marionm, I feel the same as you do about the rubber gloves and about tens of thousands of other things that we use that are ultimately harmful to the environment. They are too numerous to count. It's an uphill battle. I know some restaurants have replaced plastic straws with paper straws. And some businesses are moving some plastic containers to reusable glass or other recyclables. The news talked recently about a huge ocean clean-up project that pulled tons of junk out of a huge dumping ground in the ocean. The problem with plastic is that it does its job too well. It doesn't deteriorate, at least not for a long, long time. People do care about the environment, but it's hard to get consumers, and businesses, to change.

Rubber gloves or not - Denmark is one of the most eco- friendly countries on this planet. If all countries were like Denmark the world wouldn’t have the problems that it has. girldrummerPlastic straws, Plastic cutlery (for 1 time use) and a lot more is no longer allowed in the EU.

We're such assholes about everything, so much resistance to everything, no matter how good it is for us in the long run.
