Oh lord, I remember that brouhaha lol. I remember a fan (hope she's not a member here), that made comments on EVERY SINGLE VIDEO of Adam's about the cheating.
Have no idea if the cheating is true or not, but pretty sure Adam has moved on lol.

I do believe there was some vote-cheating on Idol that year. But Adam is doing just fine, thank you very much. And it wasn't Kris's fault.
It will be a fun Starstruck season!
I wonder what would have happened if Adam had sung Nessun Dorma on Idol. LOL Just trying to imagine him singing it in front of Paula and Simon and the other judges. Of course, I don't think the song would have fit into any of the required categories, but I do think it would have been one of those unforgettable "moments" in Idol history. My mind is going in crazy directions today!

True or not…there was also the controversy re people would dial in repeatedly and never got even one vote in. So that really shook up fans. Others it was hit and miss. As time went on …I thought it was realistic that the policy changed for some of the competition shows. Each phone number was allowed only so many votes per person”. That was so much better for fans. Ie…who wants to pay huge phone fees and sit dialling in for hrs after a show to get as many votes in as possible. AI was out of country …so Voting for Adam was not realistic…some figured out some convoluted ways of doing so…but I was not into that. However, for SYTYCD CANADA, Season 1 ….I personally knew a contestant and the family, so used my landline and my cell to phone in for several weeks. She finished -runner-up. My bill was 70.00 -100.00 more each time I did that. I phoned my provider Telus and they “forgave” half of the extra amount, and what was pending , as I barely ever even used my cell back in the day, yet paid my monthly fee for years. And of course I only used my landline after getting that bill, shocking bill. |

My mind is going in crazy directions today! My guess is the unfair advantage was not intentional and it was done by AT&T. Not Idol. Back then, text voting was new and AT&T texting was only available in mostly the South. And that was the only carrier used for Idol at that time. So they could not do texting parties in CA even if they had wanted to. But only people from the South were winning back then (if they made the finals) so Kris would likely have won anyway. Especially after Danny was voted off and some pastors were telling his fans, and everyone else, to vote for the Christian and not the gay guy. It was so weird. Would it have been so awful if the gay contestant won a singing competition? But the AT&T dude should have stayed out of it and let the votes come in as they came. He created a controversy where there probably was not one. And naturally there was nothing Idol could say other than the voting was fair but it was always clear that they wanted Adam to win. And when Adam outperformed Kris post Idol and was invited back to Idol more often as the winner per se, that only made his win look worse. Kris won but suffered from the outcome way more than Adam did tho none of it was his fault. But who wants to be the winner that everyone is saying how did they win and beat Adam Lambert 10+ years later? And the fans who said Adam lost because middle America did not want him in their living rooms because Kris was more marketable and acceptable, ended up looking pretty stupid. Much better to lose and become a star and end up with the much bigger career, imo. Worked out well for Adam. |
