Do people realize that this question is actually an insult to Adam? I cringe every time I see it. I realize people mean well, but think about what you're actually saying here.

It's all so depressing these days. And this from somebody who used to go to church for most of her life...I just couldn't take the hypocrisy anymore. Haven't been for probably 20 years now. Lol! Same with me. Never really paid any attention to what they said tho. Just went because my parents went. When I started high school, every month I would get very sick. Horrible pain, vomiting, weakness and crying until I passed out. Medications never worked because I couldn't keep them down. Luckily my high school years were fun anyway cause the teachers and students all looked out for me. I was everyone's "baby." HA. After several excruciating hours, it would pass and I would be back to normal. That went on for 4 damn years. But then I started college (had to go to the local university because they were afraid of me leaving home). I passed out the first week and needed students that I didn't know to take care of me. I was mortified and wanted to quit. My doctor told my mom, I don't care what the church disapproves of, I'm putting her on birth control pills. He said I wanted to wait until she hit 100lbs. She is close enough but I can't have her in college and passing out and depending on strangers to take care of her. So I am overruling the church he said. Those pills changed my life. I couldn't believe it, I was saved and free. But I was furious. I went thru 4 years of that nightmare when all I needed were pills that the church had a problem with. I couldn't be mad at my mom for believing them but that was it for the church for me. Unless it is funeral or someone's wedding, lol.

I was raised Roman Catholic - my father was Polish and mother was Irish. But my catholic high school nuns were very liberal for the times in the early 1970s and probably woke me to the fact that the old priests were not right. After high school, I searched for a RC church which matched my hs experience. Couldn't find it. I migrated to the Episcopalian church in the liberal Northeast US. Many of the priests are in same-sex marriages. But even with that, my children went AWOL. Except now in the past two years my daughter brought her children back to church school, which she helps teach, and also participates in the community outreach to supply lunches on Sundays to the persons in need. It's okay to explore a church home that goes along with your values. You may find one, or not. I have two children with their own kids. They are not church-goers except maybe for Easter. It's okay. Their choice.
Sorry to read of your experiences.

Wow, "religious beliefs" sure covers a whole lot of shit and prejudices and biases. I'm guessing that Catholic employers therefore don't have to cover birth control? Where does it stop? You give people power, they'll use it in all sorts of ways. Why give employers power over their employees health? Here, each person enrole to their own healthcare program and make their own choices. If they switch their work place, it doesn't change anything.
