There's a wikipedia post about the song which includes the speculation at the time about who "the boy" was. Although first performed by women, it was understood that Noel Coward wrote it about someone he was attracted to and he wrote another version making the gay part explicit. Anyway, the two silver screen heartthrobs named possible were Douglas Fairbanks, Jr and Tyrone Power. I'm going with Tyrone Power.

Random thoughts: - As usual, I liked some parts of the live performance better than the studio recording, especially the low "destroy" was richer. How does he do that? - On October 1st, we went to the Vancouver show of Michael Buble as part of my daughter's 7th BD celebrations (her first live show). It was nice and funny, his voice is great for that type of music, but all the time I was missing the range. I wish Adam would record an album of the same covers Michael borrows from the greats like Dean Martin or Sinatra. After all, he already does Feeling Good 10x better. At the end of the concert, totally unprompted, my dear daughter made me promise that if Adam comes to Vancouver, we will go to the show! - Did not care for the haircut bow line over the ears, but it does not affect the singing, so whatever

I do not know why my not very old ipad is not picking up Pi and bamafan posts! Maddening‼️ The posts are blank. Perfectly fine on my desk top.
Luckily it has been easy to locate the video through google.
❤️. Absolutely beautifully delivered and performed by both Adam and the dancers. Amazing showcase of the song for the UK audience 🤩😚😍
I started listening to various artists perform the song. Noel’s version is pretty strange….I must say …..but Jessica Biel reworked it for a past movie EASY. Very nicely done as well, and the closest to Adam's version.
Noel's version is" very unique".

He was simply stunning. The first time I saw him on TV I was eleven, and I fell in love with him...He had a dreamy look about him...sort of like our incredible dreamy Adam has.

gail, I thought Tyrone being dreamy fully encapsulated the song as opposed to the more swash-buckling Fairbanks.

I've been waiting for hours for this, and I think it is fantastic! He finally wore a tux again after such a long time, and he looks SO handsome. The song was just a bit different from the recording. I like both, of course, although I like the recording because he goes for those glory notes a little stronger. This live version is just as sexy and steamy. Those two dancers were perfect! And real home run for Adam, too!
Tyrone Power was absolutely the handsomest man in Hollywood in his day. My grandmother once told me how she and her friends swooned over him. Fairbanks was a real doll, too, but my bet is that, of the two, Noel Coward went for Tyrone. What a babe. I enjoyed Noel's own version, too, sung in that very affected style of the day. And it has more of those clever lyrics.
