I must say, it was very nice to hear LNX give Adam credit in the press for opening some doors. I'm not sure I've heard it from other LGBT stars except Olly Alexander. Adam sure took some heavy hits (still painful to think about) but he survived and thrived and helped others have an easier and smoother path to stardom. And he became a great and respected role model with status to back the talent. I know right! I really liked the one outlet (or maybe it was just the press release that went out) but it said "and Adam has tirelessly promoted LGBTQ artists". Aint that the truth.

I was happily surprised when I saw that little news cycle about LNX crediting Adam for opening doors. I remember during the early part of Adam's career, it felt like the gay community wasn't especially supportive. Someone mentioned how nice it was to see more gay men in the audience at the live stream show.
Any of you who went to the live shows and have seen Adam's shows in the past, did you notice a difference?

My experience in the past: all the solo shows in Manhattan had lots of theater and gay community in the audience. But anything across the river in NJ had very few if any, at least identifiable by their look. So I think location makes a huge difference.

I live in a moderate/conservative area and I have been to Adam and QAL concerts. Lots of men in the audience but the gay men would look like any other men so how would you know? Teachers, students, professionals, businessmen, etc. Not a theater area or major entertainment hub so it is unlikely you would see any drag queens or men playing dress up in the audience. A pretty accepting area and I don't think anyone would really care but the more flamboyant have niche clubs that cost little to attend. They are generally in areas where people are unlikely able to afford the more expensive concert tickets. I think Adam can read the areas too. I have never heard him say "I'm a queen" or "so gay" at these concerts as he does at many others. And I have a gay friend who is a museum director and he loves to go see Adam. But you would never see him wearing makeup, a dress or being any way flamboyant or trying to draw attention. That is the beauty of Adam. He recognizes that all gays don't live in LA, NY or the more progressive areas of the country. They are gay and not in the closet but they are uninterested in wearing makeup or being different. But they want representation too and he gives something to every one at different times and ways.
