While the lakecountymag.org link does not lie per se, it does sensationalize these raves parties making them seem like the devil's spawn lol. It's totally possible to go to a rave and not do drugs if you want. It's not an environment that I personally enjoy regularly, but if you go to a rave it's not like you are a junkie.
Re: Madonna's title name. I seriously don't like Madonna - although I acknowledge her role in the development of pop music, of course. She just seems so affected and bitchy in the latest interviews I've seen with her and at the Golden Globes last night. She is not the center of the world. Please. Get over yourself.
That being said, I agree with Adam that MDNA is a pretty clever name. It's tongue in cheek and smart, it has a hidden meaning, and it clearly brands her in the ways that she wants: name branding, edginess, youth, etc. It will be interesting to see how well her album does. It will sell, that's for sure, but I don't think she has it in her to be a major force in pop music anymore, especially pop radio.

Wait. So is TODAY HAC adds date? I swear I saw someone on twitter say that and that so far it has zero adds today?? WUT. No, official add days are HAC 1/23 and CHR 1/24. Today is a holiday. HAC adds are still coming in, even though it is MLK day. Kelly's WDKY already has 8 adds with only 40% of the stations reporting so far. BTINM could still get some HAC adds as the day goes on. (I HOPE

I posted this yesterday, because Madonna's recent interview on Graham Norton was GOOD! He and her fans in audience PRESSED her to give name of album--and she did--w/a wink--and the audience got it. I thought peeps might be interested because THIS is the show I'd like to see Adam on when he does UK promo this time. And MUCH of what M says about various topics reminds me of Adam!
ETA: I am not a huge Madonna fan because I, too, don't like "affectations" (I've always thought Gaga borrowed some of that from her, too, lol) BUT I LOVE a few of her songs and, like Gaga, she IS a GENIUS at marketing herself.
IF YOU CAN'T TAKE M IN BIG DOSES, JUST WATCH FROM MINUTES 7-15 APP.--many things remind me of Adam.

Just educating myself as what a "rave" is in more detail. The article I read said alcohol is rarely served because people attending are rarely old enough to drink and alcohol is thought to diminish the effects of the drug! Also provided are things like pacifiers to protect teeth from clenching..... Sorry to those of you that are more progressive but as the mom of two college girls, I am having a gut wrenching response to this right now. Read more if you dare. this is short-ish and to the point.... www.lakecountymeg.org/About%20Rave%20Clubs.htmLive and learn at ATOP! This seems so different from the parties I've been to. Maybe things are different here or maybe I've just been lucky with the parties I've chosen to go to. Now I'm wondering what kind of raves and forest parties Adam has been to. Always when he has been talking about those I've assumed the parties are similar to those I'm used to. The raves I've been to were in the mid to late 90s and drugs weren't an issue then. It was just lots of dancing non-stop. I have no doubt that there were drugs but if you're not into that scene those people don't seek you out to try to convince you to try it (contrary to popular belief about peer pressure). Adam is from LA and was a club kid. He's been very open about experimenting with drugs so I'm 99.9% sure he's referring to parties where X was readily taken. I don't think Adam is endorsing or promoting the use of MDMA, he's just acknowledging that Madonna's music is a staple of the rave scene and that it's a pretty smart play on that connection for an album title.

There are still festival type raves like Electric Daisy Festival. I hadn't heard of that festival, but there are STILL raves in KC. My son attended a couple--enjoyed the music but not the crowded claustrophobic room. Just like Burning Man, NOT EVERYONE WHO ATTENDS DOES DRUGS. Younger people seem to like the "secret" aspect of it--only people who know about it go, location changes, etc. etc. I LMAO at the person who tweeted "Adam, you're showing your age!" I'll bet he hasn't been to one for years. ETA: Wonderstruck--exactly.

I do think Adam is mistaken about name though. I think it's just every other letter of Madonna's name. She likely knew of connotation, however, and kept it to be provocative. MA DO NN AMaybe you're right and Adam is reading too much into it

MA DO NN AMaybe you're right and Adam is reading too much into it I think susiefierce probably got it right; and, JMHO, I think Adam could have been calling it "genius" b/c he realized it's using every other letter of her name AND it happens to have another meaning as well. But that's just me.
