Yes, that Lottery show in the UK is apparently a very BIG DEAL! And so great that Adam is a part of it. They sure love him in the UK.
lurleene, just a quick comment about the everlasting weight issue:
If Adam had not gained one single pound since Idol, he would still not look in 2022 like he did in 2009. He is thirteen years older, and most people don't look like they did after that amount of time. Period. His face is a bit fuller. His torso is not as slim. He gained COVID-era weight, took a bunch of it off, and looks pretty darn good right now. Some people seem to think he should always look the same since AI. Nobody could. And your observations about other artists who have gained weight kind of proves my point. To his credit, Adam took weight off. Kelly seems to be ok with her present weight. Fans will criticize all they want. But as Adam said a short while ago in response to a comment on IG or somewhere, "I am a lot more than just my figure."
And Adam has a good knack for accents and dialects, IMO. LOL

I know there is a lot of sensitivity about Adam and weight but everything is not about him. Was not comparing him to those ladies. He is a man and many of the men there were a lot heavier than Adam and many were younger. Imo, they didn't look good or sound good (maybe they never did) but they were unfamiliar to me so I didn't comment on them. But I'm very familiar with Kelly and Miranda but they have nothing to do with Adam and his "figure." And no one expects him to look the same as 2009 but my comments were not about him anyway. |

I should have made it clearer that my post was really not meant to be about those female artists as much as it was to address the whole weight thing in general. I think people who haven't seen Adam in a long time do notice a difference between now and pre-COVID, but that seems to be waning. I know your post wasn't really about Adam, but that's where my mind went when the issue came up. Sorry it was confusing. Bottom line, a celebrity's looks mean a lot, male or female. But usually looks are not a deal-breaker with the fans.

But usually looks are not a deal-breaker with the fans. Obviously hard to generalize, and probably there are very different “hooks” that make viewers/listeners into fans. I guess for me it was both. Actually, I never analysed the reason I became a fan until now but after COVID I definitely prefer to listen and not watch. The voice is magnificent and is only getting better, the voice has a hold on me. The looks don’t anymore. I also lost interest in non artistic sides of his life. Everything evolves.  |

One of my favorite soap actresses is in her thirties but she keeps getting heavier and heavier to the point of looking obese and unhealthy. But I have to keep in mind that at one time she had a eating disorder and she got so thin that she was scarily unrecognizable. It was pretty frightening before she took time off and got help. She came back looking very healthy and fit. I think it is only natural to hope our favorites stay in shape but it is never in the hands of fans. I would think stars have access to people who could help them, if that is what they want. I know I shouldn't worry about her but it is difficult to be indifferent cause I really like her. And it is hard to think it is in her best interest to be sickly thin or overweight and gaining fast. Hopefully there is someone looking out for her. But her looks were an important part of her brand as they are for many artists along with the talent. Like it or not, sometimes they go together for recognition and the type of opportunities. |
